Looking promising ...

Yes, I was watching those cells yesterday on the satellite . They were out in the Atlantic then but not as intense as they are now, the cloud tops are whiter/colder today.

So far the atmosphere seems to be very stable ahead of the main band which is not good news.

I was hoping for sunshine and thundery showers but may have to do with some rain instead.

At least northeast Wales hasn't eaten our rain band so we can expect some heavy falls.

If I look to my east you'd be forgiven for thinking the sunny glorious day with little puffy white clouds would last forever... look out to the west and things are about to change.  Dark clouds are piling in...

The radar has come to life. Some really intense rain to hit Manchester within the hour.

Why there are so few people reporting here?

seems this is just a band of 'thundery' rain,  not really got the heat and humidity for the beefy storms of last few days ,  3 rumbles here , now feels cool and overcast with moderate rain  could be game over I think, at least its another thunder day for the tally ,,,thats 3 now

Thunder gone, rain subsiding after 30 minutes of quite intense rain.

Lost the heat too - don't expect any more today !

We normally get less in a year so it's pretty good in my book.

 

Also, it feels nice and fresh now that the heat got kicked back to Europe.

wondering if the the warm july sun will emerge again before evening to maybe trigger convection, but looking a million miles from that now , more like a rainy stratus fest autumn day

Been on a long dog walk , ominous TCu to my South East has produced about a dozen rumbles so ive entered my fith day in a row with a storm !!!.

Rumbles of thunder every minute or so here.

Rain started around 2pm then strong gusts with a couple of flashes and rolls of thunder.  Stormy bit lasted about 30 min, since then wind dropped out, currently steady moderate rain.  Temp. before rain arrived was 20C, now 14C.

After a nice start to the day its back to rain, cloud, wind and mid teens for the a week atleast..............great.....................
