Did I nearly get struck by lightning?

Recommended Posts

Hi people

New to the forum. On a boating trip in the Norfolk broads. Severe thunder storm last night, irresponsibility out taking photos and ended up with this one... There was a flash overhead shortly after. Is this a stream coming from me? Was I a lucky boy?

Much obliged

An umbilicus from a mothership? You must have come very close to having your cerebrospinal fluid sucked out... :D

Call Fringe Division?

What a weird photo. The only thing I know is that if you really were about to be struck by lightning you would have felt your hair literally stand on end as you became positively charged. I've seen some creepy photos online of people who have photos taken of them in thunderstorms with their hair stood up before being struck.

Considered aliens, but didn't hear the requisite "ooooooolllaaaaaaaah" :-)

Did you feel a hot rush of air like being near a bonfire if not then it was definitely not a close strike. :-)

I forgot to add welcome to the forum - could you please provide your location, in your settings that would be splendid. :)

That picture gives me the creeps; I have absolutely no rational explanation for it!

I've seen a similar photo where a moth or some insect has flown close to the camera.

Could it be a strand of hair?

Sad news two people today weren't so lucky :(....

Sad indeed Moki, but if you decide to climb mountains when thunderstorms are forecast then you really are taking chances.

Indeed, David...I once met some folks on Cairngorm (in the snow) dressed in shorts and sandals!

The only thing that I think that could possibly be is a rod, but it doesn't look like most rods.
