France have some high temps today, so could see some decent storms, UK is too far NW I think, so no storms today for UK.

This is a sweeping statement and somewhat wrong.

And just like that the grey mess has cleared and the suns come out... clouds seem quite still up there at the moment so nothing interesting to report for now

sounds like a wager.....lol

I've not really been following this setup much recently due to problems with my internet, but it does seem rather similar to 2 weeks ago albeit perhaps the parameters are not quite as potent.......now my internet's sorted I'm having a perusal....first glance looks promising for southern, especially SE england, with the dreaded 'thundery rain' element for further north.....from an IMBY perspective, surface based convection seems more unlikely due to still extensive cloud cover, for elevated convection, it's possible tonight, but I'm on the western flank on the action IMO

Currently South of Angers, France. Heating up to between 34-35c. Clouds growing and a couple of spots of rain on the windscreen. Looking hopeful for the region

Some nice breaks in the cloud with the temperature rising accordingly (spot the plane).

Yes a bit bold, maybe SE corner with see some France imports but I dont see how the rest of the UK will produce storms.

From as far back as I woke up at about 6.15 this morning skies have been clear and blue. It wasn't particularly warm but temps quickly rose and it is a pretty hot day here now. I wouldnt say its particularly humid nor would I say its particularly dry but it is reasonably comfortable. However its not all about the humidity at the surface.

Here's my take on tonight...sorry if a bit blurry

Rest assured, some rather strong storms are likely to develop later today, more especially overnight and continuing into the wee small hours. Localised flash flooding, hail and occasionally some frequent lightning. As always there are no guarantees, much the same as the last thundery spell which for some was quite monumental as others watched on in complete awe. Suspect plenty of nowcasting from now on as the sheer unpredictability of these set ups sure keeps the experts on their toes, let alone the curtain twitching brigade.

Could be a lively night alright, may even catch a few out.

South Bucks doesn't look a bad place to be tonight. Problem is, I'm knackered and need an early night, especially as I have to be up sharpish tomorrow. Hope the storms arrive before midnight.

Sun's out!!! FINALLY.

Some further convection over France and the Channel, with sferics on the N French coast. Not much at the moment but it's a start.

Derby looks on the cusp of the action on most models but some have all the action east of here. It appears I would best to head east if I want a higher chance. However, I have seen a number of storms elsewhere and would quite like to be able to see one without having to drive.

A repeat of the 4th July would be very nice.

Nice sun out just for an hour here temps jumped a bit and so did my wait and see what happens shoes. Just don't understand the whole speculation and then bashing over peoples thoughts on the forecast. Just look at the live maps and lightning radar tonight, we've seen to many maybe somethings then they just die out as soon as they get close to the mainland. Just see where it lands tonight and keep the cameras ready. Watching Tour De France and its just let it drop to torrential.

Grr, looks like Yorkshire is too far out of the main zone for this event, ill still keep an eye on things though. maybe being in the south of the region I may scrape something!
