Happy pixel hunting. If it's anything like other years almost all major landmasses North of 50° will be white while the British Isles remain steadfastly green.

Welcome To The Snow And Ice NH thread for 2015 :)

I have to Attach the latest snow/ice map due to somehow unable to paste it :(

It seems that Northern Russia seems to be having a bit of a early snowfall.

The Ice cover is not doing as well as last year but I leave that to pro's.

    Enjoy

Edit: The picture came out well in the end

Maybe put up what it looked like this time last year for comparison. You said at this stage last year the snow cover was better but can you show that in your post by putting a picture up to show this?

He never mentioned the snow cover last year, it's the ice that is less than last year. Look in the ice thread, BFTV has just made a post there.

Last year saw early and massive snow advances but it meant diddly squat for the UK and Europe. It's another theory based on too short a time period.

Posting in the correct thread now

Have folks given up the idea of any correlation with early snow cover in the NH particularly of course in Eurasia and the type of UK winter we will get or do they feel it could be part of the jigsaw ?.

Today's Latest Map shows a bit of pixels further west in Russia and more in Canada

    It's getting closer :p

Have to say enjoy watching this thread as Autumn progresses and we head into Winter, just to see parts of Europe start to become more White on the map,

Alaska should be getting some decent falls in the next few days.

The snow in Calgary would that be considered early for snow fall ?

Calgary although fairly flat is quite a height above sea level, so prone to some marked changes in temperature. I spent one summer many years ago playing cricket in Calgary and the summer was constantly warm and did not remember many cool days. I think snow in the middle/late August would be a rare event in and around the city plains.

Gosh snow in Calgary already! Very surprised. I visited Calgary in October 2010, and it was 20 degrees on the 20th! What a varied climate it has..
