Had an interesting 'red rainbow' today, just as the sun set.

I've not heard of this phonomenom before?

Sorry for quality, only had my phone.

It was amazing though.

Very interesting. I'd never seen one before, or even heard of it until now? ;-)

I've seen a few of them, only ever caught one on camera (see below). Don't be so hard on yourself about the pics, I know how these things tend to pan out with the pic never doing justice to reality, but your first pic of the rainbow is a cracker :D

Aww thanks matey :-)

I like how they don't form a traditional rainbow shape, it's more of a dome really, and they all seem to be double? Maybe the wavelength of light shows up the second bow more?

nice pics!

I've had a think about it and i'll tell you why the rainbow is mainly red- the suns light at that time of day has a orange/red tint to it so instead of a normal rainbow during the day where the normal 'white' sunlight gets dispersed by the raindrops producing a full coloured rainbow, there is only really red/orange light shining on the said raindrops so the rainbow appears red  :D

*science hat off*
