I think netweather should have there own naming system eventually this will be picked up by the media and more coverage for netweather.tv

Well looks like another possible storm for Wednesday who'll name it France, Ireland or Denmark

Well, I've always thought that naming storms is another dumbing-down exercise. And, given all the bickering it's caused, I'll assume I'm right! 👍

Fingers crossed it will be quietly dropped after this season. It's just become a farce.

To be fair, I think the consensus is overwhelmingly negative about it on here, it's a rare moment of harmony!

It looks to me like it's maybe a marketing dept vs forecasting dept thing. The marketers loving it, the forecasters not so much.

So, don't bet on them binning it!

I would rather the Met Office, the publicly funded national forecaster, focus on forecasting rather than marketing wibble!

Absolutely. You do have to wonder how far a lot of the things they do and spend money on have moved away from what is supposed to be their core mission.

Well then system is coming a little faster and further north this run. You watch they'll name it now and it will be a dud.

What storms?🙄

Seems to have become less and less frequent 'down these parts', over the years.

I've seen little evidence, for this part of the world, of an increasing likelihood of stormy weather that 'we' seem to have been 'promised' over the last few years🙄

Less wind storms, less electrical storms, less snow and more cloud. Love global warming. 😞

Which again demonstrates its utter pointlessness. The whole idea is to raise awareness of potential impacts so people can prepare. It'll be named too late for that to be a reason, as usual. Or another Met agency will get there first.

Back in 2015 I voted "Yes" on the poll on this topic. In theory it's a good idea but it's been executed terribly.

Still no name, and it's after Easter.

Will we ever see Storm Antoni? Storm naming seems to have fallen out of favour over the UK but there will be a wet and windy midweek with gales and high gusts and plenty of weather warnings.

Winds/ gusts have been adjusted toward several hours of 65mph to 70mph gusts around Cornish coasts this morning and afternoon, surely with many still on Easter holidays and holidaying in that part of the world you would expect a named system today?

Can't help thinking if the SE were to be expected to have this we would be using a named storm today.

#NameOurStorms: is it a good idea?

After 7 years, it is still a farce.

How many low pressures have actually been named by the met office compared to those named by other met office services in the last 7 years?

Have they already dropped it? If they're not willing to name it until it's already pretty much here then seriously what is the point?

Now it is very highly likely that we are not going to seeing a met office named storm this season, is there any point changing the names for the coming season?

Maybe they will just join with Southwestern naming group- Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Lux.

The same lows often interact with our UK weather and if we have an active year , then southern Europe might not and as we have seen this year , when we don't see so much Atlantic action, Iberia does.

I don't think any name has been used from this season? but they are already doing the social media push for a whole new set for next season.

I really thought they'd just join with southwestern group
