Well, the Braer storm, with a central pressure of circa 915mb never had a name -- but I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers it well. 🤔

IMO, the whole exercise is a load of fluff: Did the Penlee , Torrey Canyon, Braer or the Great Storm of 1987 need naming? IMO, we recall storms because of the resulting structural damage and/or loss of life . . . I can hardly remember the name of any recent storms, with the exception of Ophelia. But that is only remembered for its red sun. 🤔

Strongest UK storm in ten years (Met Office) Storm Eowyn with red wind warnings for N.Ireland and parts of Scotland. Also all of Ireland from Met Eireann.

Followed by Herminia, from AEMET. The low is over the UK with yellow warnings  but widespread warnings for Spain

 Weather-history this is true, I can only remember a few, but thats because of what they did rather than what they were called.
