The Met Office warning mentions 200mm, Shap has had nearly 100mm already with another good 18 hours of heavy rain - that forecast may, remarkably, be too low.

Cumulative radar-derived rainfall totals for some sites in western Scotland already topping 200mm for the last 24 hours.

Inverclyde is taking a soaking, from what I can work out Greenock is basically cut off from the rest of Scotland with high tide not for another six hours or so.

Really feel bad for you in the flooded areas. Hope you are all safe; it must be devasting to have that lot flowing into your homes and businesses.

Wow. Red warning out from Met Office for Cumbria now. Stay safe mate.

Thanks, not in immediate concern where I live as thankfully on a hill but can get cut off in extreme circumstances, I have friends living in areas that flooded badly in November 2009 and Mums shop is right next to the River Cocker, they are bricking it obviously! :(

Consistent wind gusts for us in the Peaks ramping up to possibly 70mph later on, had a few window-rattlers this morning topping 55mph. The rain is steadily beginning to edge it's way in closer but I think it'll mostly be drizzle as opposed to the consistent heavier rainfall to the north. Still another 18hours forecast of winds to come.

Feel so sorry for the people flooded out and at risk of being flooded especially this time of year. Winds here are ramping up here consistent gusts but nothing too severe yet. I see the me meto have issued an amber alert for the wind here now. Stay safe peeps it's a wild day out there!

Chris Fawkes saying the heaviest of the rain to come this afternoon making reference to November 2009, so the flooding issues now will only get worse this evening, not good at all.

A major weather event unfolding - all those wishing for a 2009 reprise - this was not the part they wanted. :nonono:

Goodness knows what it will be like when all that water works its way down from the hills; hopefully all heed the warnings and no lives are lost this time.

Aye its bloody terrible here, reports of Greenock being flooded badly and also parts of Port Glasgow too, although nothing like what Cumbria is about to endure. Stay safe everyone!
