A dry and clear start to yesterday evening but it soon clouded over, with a rise in temperature, and there were one or two light showers before midnight.

The temperature fell steadily during the early hours and there were frequent moderate-heavy showers, initially of rain but later of sleet; the showers cleared to the south around 0840 and at the moment it's dry and cloudy.
