A clear very cold start to day with an rare air frost

Fairly sunny with patchy cloud, air frost just clearing with temperature 0.6C from a low of -1.1C

One short shower of large ( 7-9 mm) snow pellets around 1930 g.m.t yesterday evening after which the night was dry and clear. Dry with sunny periods so far this morning. Once again the hills to the north ( Big Moor and Sir William Hill ) are white with snow after overnight showers..

Having had a wander around the back garden about 1/2 hour ago I was quite surprised to see patches of ice still lying around in several parts, from the snow/hail around 1700 yesterday.

Wintry showers cleared away last evening, clear spells following, widespread frost developing. Sunny spells so far this morning, cloud bubbling up quickly. Wintry showers breaking out through the morning of snow and soft hail. The afternoon saw further brief moderate showers of soft hail, cold for April, temperatures falling sharply in and near showers.

A dry morning with cloud slowly increasing to reduce the early sunshine to sunny intervals by late morning. Rain moved in by 1230 g.m.t and this turned to moderate-heavy sleet from mid afternoon onwards, eventually clearing shortly before 1800 g.m.t.

A very similar day to yesterday - dry most of the day with sunny spells after an unusually cold start with an air frost, then showers this evening. Maximum 12.1, minimum -0.6. Wind light SW.
