Yep the cell that was slightly north east of Worcester has started to break up now but Kidderminster is reviving a good lump of rain right about now.

Cell in the Channel has re-energised in the last 5 minutes

I think its a new cell. The other one further east looks dead.

By the looks of things the cell that produced the lightning earlier is just moving into Kidderminster now.

looks like it is still quiet, most likely died off now, just left with the rain

Always a chance for surprises like that cell so only time will tell, if not there is always tomorrow, which looks very nice :yahoo:

Today I mean

Agreed but it was a nice little surprise none the less and something i didn't expect tonight. Well tomorrow i'm on the road all day at work driving up and down the motorway from Worcester to Bristol 3 times so fingers crossed the weather provides us all with some fun and entertainment :-)

Yes hoping for something in Stoke later today..I work nights in Birmingham so if we have any pop-ups overnight that'll be good but then I want the activity further now when I get home!

The Storm in the Channel seems to have pepped up again. Would be nice to get a distant night show.

They're not to be taken literally, but the recent upgrade to the NetWx model has made them pretty good for mesoscale developments. :)

^^ Looks good for Leeds, for a change! Guess we'll wait and see - looks like Leeds and Sheffield + surrounding areas will be the warmest places in the UK tomorrow.

Something trying to form north of Peterborough, keeping a eye on it for the next 30 minutes before it's bed and a early rise in preparation for the afternoon hours.

Not looking good for Cheshire area tomorrow as wind convergence sets up further E with the focal point being central/east Midlands based on current hi res modelling. GFS wants a gentle NW'ly here by afternoon so we won't see anything from that direction. If I could pick a location for later on tomorrow afternoon it'd be Derby, down through Leicester, Coventry and perhaps as far S&E as Northampton.

Really intense storm here in Co Antrim for past couple of hours. Frequent bright lightning and at ground-shaking thunder - best storm I've seen in years!

Is that on the wee occluded front that's supposed to head for Scotland tomorrow afternoon?

Oh joy :nonono:That means an early start for me cos horses are out overnight tonight and I'll need to have 'em in well ahead of any thunder. Don't get me wrong, I love a good storm, but I also want to live. One rumble of thunder and the horses lose whatever remaining marbles they have.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
