Well the showers now visible should be raining soon maybe some sleet wet snow in the peak district. Needed to start an hour ago for snow here.

i heard from a friend that there was a slight covering of snow on top of the North Yorkshire Moors ........can anyone confirm that ?

If you look on the Uk Snow updates page on facebook there if a picture from last nights covering at Blakey Ridge so that is correct.

Didnt see anything here, sounded like rain whilst in bed this morning and then just rain showers this afternoon. Shame really. Was hopefull at my altitude but not this time! Thought I might have seen a few flakes this weekend.

METO/BBC still going for snow Tuesday night so we'll have to see....

Well if it was sleet here it was certainly sleet where you were. Flakes quiet visible here this morning.

Yeah i probably missed it, wasnt up early. I can usualy hear the rain on the roof and could this morning for a little while so was probably mixed in with that?

Fingers crossed for Tuesday night, at least its due overnight wich will help!! Ranmoor forecast (197masl) shows heavy snow 9pm-3am and then light snow 3am-6am so you never know!  Even the BBC forecast for basic Sheffield centre shows sleet and snow :)

Yes I was up on Blakey Ridge last night at 400m and there was a very slight covering, wet snow sticking to cold surfaces such as cars/grass, nothing to write home about but always good to see.

Met Office Warnings Issued For: West Yorkshire

    Yellow early warning of snow

    From:

    1200 on Tue 8 November

    To:

    0900 on Wed 9 November

    Updated 4 hours ago

Rain will turn to snow in places later on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. This could bring accumulations of 4 to 8 cm across some hilly areas of northern England and Scotland, largely above 200-300 m, with as much as 15 cm possible above 300-400 m.

Overnight Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, as snow peters out over Scotland, there is the potential for snow to settle to low levels over parts of Yorkshire and down into the northeast Midlands, though with a good deal of uncertainty about this. Please be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions in some areas.

Well ive just watched national weather. And it looks like North Yorkshire moors could get a decent covering tomorrow night. Most of our region looks like mostly sleet and rain. With snowfall reserved for the highest parts. But I would settle for a few wet snowflakes after last winter lol

I was quite surprised to see this - my total lack of interest in the weather recently means this has slipped under the radar for me.

Here we go again a marginal situation tomorrow evening. Will depend on evaporate cooling away from the peaks. The rain looks heavy enough at the moment time will tell

    • Wet March so far with more rain for the rest of the month, but hints of more settled weather early April

It's been a wet March for much of the UK, with well above average rainfall, though the Northern & Western Isles have been drier than average. Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
