The heat has been an interesting one for sure. For many days leading up to, Friday was supposed to be the 'drain away'of heat day.Forecast high was 27c.It hit 30c at Heathrow...

And ever since temperatures have been two or three degrees higher than predicted values in the SE,on what at one time last week was supposed to be a 22c maximum weekend!(looking at a high of 29c today I would imagine)

Agreed. On friday evening there was supposed to be a cold front moving south. It never arrived and the temperatures have been no cooler this weekend then they have been in the week.

A couple of cells firing up?

south and east of Shrewsbury.

Looks like it, quite a bit further west than predicted too. There trajectory takes them through the Peak District, and there was me thinking I was way too far north today! Let's hope its the start of something though.

Here in Cambridge the wind is starting to get up and this cloud was developing nearby... Being a complete novice no idea if it's a cell or not but it looked like it was growing....

If I am honest I don't expect they will. It all looks a bit messy. Then again, who knows? As you say, weather is a funny thing. I remember a few years ago after a day like today being woken up out of nowhere by a thunderstorm in the middle of the night, and yet they were only expected to occur in the far SE.

Shower near Stafford should hit Belper, that is if it doesn't die out. I don't expect it to be thundery but just a decent dose of rain would be nice.

Nothing thundery, chucked it down, no air still, hoped it would at least create a wind
