Knowing the UK's luck, come winter there'll be a swathe of white from the far east of Russia all the way to the west coast of northern France and the UK sticking out like a green thumb.

great to see this thread back again, I have taken some drastic action to hopefully see some proper snow this year, I am now working in Munich, hopefully this will not be Munich's first snowless winter!

Stelvio Pass in Italy has snow yesterday, I will see if I can find the video again.....

A few new snow patches in Canada and Russia and the ice sheet is starting to expand.  All very tentative but winter is starting to establish in the Arctic

For sea ice, not quite, but soon. The latest daily update was the lowest value for the year for the NSIDC, with the ADS extent just slightly above lowest

Yes, a lot of cold air is going to spill down in to mid-Siberia , the sooner the better!
