A casual glance at the ECM .. very good once again. 96h to 216 hours, -10C 850's and below. Couldn't ask for better if you like cold &  snow.

Ok, serious question time.....I work 17 miles away from home, the folk I work for are away working in London for most of the week so I have to feed the dogs as well as do the garden - not getting to work isn't an option or they'll go hungry. I've got a Landrover so theoretically it isn't going to be a problem, just might take a wee bit longer to get there. However, back in the really cold snowy winter of 1981 I remember we had to put camping stoves underneath the tractors to warm the diesel before we could get them going. If it gets really cold, diesel gets too thick to start an engine - does anyone know if this problem still exists or have they come up with an additive that stops this happening?

Yes diesel will still "wax" as we call it, a lot of modern cars have fuel heaters but if the stuff in the tank is waxed they are not a lot of use. Although it will have to get pretty chilly for it to wax up, maybe -15C? The trouble is mostly water in the filters, this readily freezes and limits flow. I guess I will be on snow plough duty if it gets bad.

I don’t buy into the comparisons to this spell with any other! 47/63/91/2010 OR 2013!!

Every cold outbreak event is different, so why not enjoy the prospects of some seriously mind blowing cold heading our way, with a very real chance of snow, we are hardly blessed with these events so we might as well make the most of it!

This is no March 2013 - it’s February and March 2018!!

Enjoy it folks! I know I will!
