    Thick fog all night and so far this morning. A few light showers yesterday evening and during the early hours. Exposed fields on the moor now have only 10% snow cover due to the wind blowing away all the snow, apart from the last cm or two.

    Monday 05th March 2018

     

    Further showers last night and through the early hours. More broken cloud later allowed a ground frost to develop before dawn, refreezing of what’s left of the patchy snow cover which is now only around 20%. Large drifts remain in near by fields. Sunny spells so far this morning. Variable cloud and sunny spells through the day, dry, much milder than recently.

    Light to moderate snow turned to intermittent light rain through the early hours. Light rain at times this morning, fog developing as slow thaw commences, visibility <100 yards. Dull and foggy through the morning and in to early afternoon and feeling cold. The afternoon. saw a few brighter spells developing, also a few moderate showers. A steady thaw of lying snow

    Thick fog until midday when it suddenly cleared to allow a few sunny intervals during the early afternoon. Cloud thickened again during the second half of the afternoon and rain arrived by 1830. A steady thaw of lying snow and less than 50% cover by mid afternoon.

    Foggy to start ,clearing to give some good sunny spells,max 6 deg,min 1 deg,most snow melted but drifts remain under the walls.
