Its usualy that time of year for guessing   Is it too soon with another cold blast due ? :D , and possibly another in mid April ?

Could it be as late as May this year or even June :cold:

hopefully April :) , although I think it will be in the last week of the month, somewhere in the home counties

I'm hoping before April is out !!!

If we are to see further HP blocking we might see cold air masses but the sun gaining in strength and day length increasing it can still feel nice in shelter?

So I'm hoping for a crisp clear day and some shelter so temps can hover around 20c by 2pm!

My prediction is, the first warm spell where a 20c is achieved, will occur before April 20th. Maybe lasting for 3 or 4 days, before another cool and rainy spell to see out the month.

May will provide us with the first warm to hot spell of the year, lasting for two weeks, giving a dry heat and the air feeling fresh with northerly or easterly breezes.

As May wears on, it will start to turn increasingly humid and the nights will start to feel warm. The first of the summer storms will arrive by the last week of May.

    Just a prediction mind!

My completely random guess, somewhere around Hampshire on the 3rd of May.

Often March saw the first 20C but obviously not this year.  Together with others I'm hoping for it in late April especially as we are looking at yet another cold shot in mid-April.  Wish this *+%"@* winter would crawl into its grave and die.

I'll go for the 16th. The influence of the SSW should wane on the AO as the month progresses.

I'm going for the first 20c actually being a 30c in June.  I have a feeling that the recent SSW isn't too keen on letting go of this dire below average temperature pattern until at least early Summer.

Sounds like May 2012 and we all know what came next!

    • Wet March so far with more rain for the rest of the month, but hints of more settled weather early April

It's been a wet March for much of the UK, with well above average rainfall, though the Northern & Western Isles have been drier than average. Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
