Best noctilucent season by far was 2009. Some of the displays were magnificent. Recent times have been pretty unspectacular not aided by the weather trying to see them anyway.

18th June 2009. Amazing displays that evening. A blue electric colour and almost near the zenith,

Guilty as charged re twitter.

Amazing sight last night, love hunting for these. Not seen such a wide display before where most of northern horizon covered in blanket of NLC.

Haven't had much luck this year so far due to relentless cloud overnight, but hoping next week provides an opportunity during the hot spell.

NOTHING. im already hearing reports of them last night, some stunning pics. i stayed out from 11pm until midnight when it was all but dark.  sat on a high vantage point with a clear view of the northern horizon.

all i can conclude is that derby is too far south.

Didn't see anything from my vantage point in the Peak District, looking at the spaceweather model of the clouds there's a 'kink' to the north in the wave leaving out the north Atlantic and Faeroes, some cluster of NLCs to the east but it'll be another day or two before the wave returns. Clear skies forecast for most of next week so i'm remaining optimistic.

NLCs have been visible for the last few days and with clear skies forecast almost countrywide this week it is well worth looking to the NW/N an hour or so after sunset (or the NE before dawn for the early risers or those on the way home from a night on the town!!   )
