Favourite Month of the 2010s so far.

Recommended Posts

Complied some interesting stats.

2018 had both the most mentions (perhaps a recenecy bias however) and most favourited months with the following being netweather favourite of each:

January 2010

Feb 2012/2018

March 2013/2018

April 2011

May 2018

June 2018

July 2018

August 2013/2016

September 2016

October 2012

November 2010

December 2010

2010 was the second most mentioned year while 2014 and 2015 had the joint least mentions. May 2018, April 2011, November 2010, December 2010, January 2010 and June 2018 were the favourite individual by mentions. Would be interesting to have a similar thread for the 2000s however I fear that people memory would be worse of these years.

I can understand why many liked December 2010, but in some parts of the country it delivered the cold but not much else. Here in Reading we had a couple of inches of snow and exceptionally cold temperatures, but what I hated about the month was its dullness - SE England as a whole had a particularly dreary month with only around 10 hours of sunshine in places, while the NW was very sunny.

Yes there are a lot here mentioning December 2010 as a favourite but for me I would choose December 2015.I was fortunate to witness December 1981 here in the pennines was colder, had much more snow and gave huge drifts.December 2015 here however produced something I hadn't seen before that being Floods. The flooding in this area was shocking and areas of the Calder valley hadn't seen anything as bad since 1946.Bridges were damaged and our local one at Elland was closed for a year and had to be rebuilt when the river and canal become one.

December 2010 by a mile for me,thunder snow and the most amazing frosts I have ever seen. Remember clearing snow of my car with a sweeping brush on many mornings.

Pity December 2009 can't be included.. Alas two contrasting months for different reasons - December 2010 for the sustained cold, December 2015 all the wrong reasons the exceptional mildness and torrential rain.

May 2018 - probably the best month all round for me, June 2018 and July 2013 not far behind.

For cold and snow January 2010 and March 2013 also rank highly.

Her are my favourite months of the decade so far.

January 2010

February 2018

March 2018

April 2012

May 2018

June 2018

July 2018

August 2013

September 2015

October 2012

November 2010

December 2010

Looks like 2018 is my favourite weather year and lets hope that continues through autumn and early winter!  However, the overall winner goes to January 2010, closely followed by December 2010.  December was colder but January snow depths were marginally greater.  Meanwhile, my least favourite years so far are 2011 and 2014.

January 2010

February 2018

March 2012

April 2011

May 2010

June 2018

July 2013/2018 (I couldn't choose between those two, so I called it a draw.)

August 2013

September 2015

October 2012

November 2010

December 2010

My favourite year of the 2010s so far was 2010, and the lowest was a tie between 2011, 2012 and 2014.

I've lived in quite a few places during this decade so location does play a part in some cases.  I am guessing that had I spent the whole decade in Exeter, my picks may have been January 2010, February 2018, March 2018, April 2011, May 2018, June 2010, July 2014, August 2013, September 2015, October 2014, November 2010 and December 2010, and 2014 would not have even come close to being my least favourite year, although I think 2010 would still have come out tops.

Needs the thunderstorms in the mix for summer months to be rated higher for me not just heat and burning sun all the time.

As for September it goes as IMO the most banal month of the year as its neither here or there,so always hard to chose a favourite September, august is becoming that way too.

Sorry I meant April 2010 instead of 2007 , getting my decade mixed up there.

Safe to say 2010 is by far my favourite year of this decade.

It's strange that March can produce note worthy months but September is often considered boring and a holding month.

How about everyone's least favourite months of the 2010s? Mine would be:

January 2014

February 2014

March 2018

April 2012

May 2013

June 2012

July 2012

August 2014

September 2017

October

November 2011

December 2015

I left October blank because I can't think of one right now.

A lot of common ground there.  March was quite a tricky decision as for me all of the Marches of this decade had their moments.

I can't think of a top 10, but December 2013, January & February 2014  were simply amazing for me as a weather enthusiast.

They are all duller than normal (though September 2016 was fairly close to average here)!

I loathe the months in bold in particular.

Surprised you hate January &  march 2013 as I thought you were a snow addict.

I had very little snow here in the east of Ireland by the coast. On the 18 January 2013, I had heavy rain which was frustration looking at other places especially in the UK buried. This was the exact same scenario with the March 21st/22nd blizzard, I had no snow just heavy rain and even spot flooding. They were cold, raw, dull and wet months. In the January 2013 spell, I had 5 minutes of a very light snow shower on the 22nd, that was it. It was the dullest January I've experienced to this day. In contrast to March 2013, March 2018 gave me a lot of snow.

I was about to pick February 2011 but then I remebered we still had some snow that month, but February 2014 was snowless if I recall.

March 2018 was a hard pick for me, especially since March 2013 was tied with 2012 as my favourite, but March 2018 was too wet and too cloudy and after the early cold spell that month I was ready for it to warm up.
