Much better HIRLAM much more widespread... given current obs I bet it will be more right.

Well the Hirlam was wrong. You call yourself thesnowdreamer. Youre predictions must be the most bias ever. And dont say i predicted the cold spell last week because of SSW the cold spell was odds on anyway. And it wasnt as prolonged as you said

Looks like i'm right in the middle of a huge hole in the precipitation, looks like another miss in any fun - at the moment, yup, just seen the radar, forget this again, no real surprise.

A thin cover of wet snow/slush ( 0.5cm ) here but the higher hills a few miles to the north are more obviously white.

Bit more snowy now but not very heavy. Maybe with the low moving east it's dragging colder air down from where it's been snowing in the northwest

Looks like whatever is falling will kick in after it passes here, which is/was only sleet anyway.

Really heavy and blizzard like in Stoke for the last 30 minutes, starting to stick and is relentless.

Radar shows probably another hours worth tops.

Just turning to sleet now in Solihull...

Avery few flakes just passed through here  as the rain intensified  for a second.

Temperature has dropped slightly from 3.3C an hour ago to 2.7C now. DP still positive at 0.6C.

Unlikely to settle.

Rain here in Hinckley. Temp is about 5c if I trust the car thermometer.

Some beatie remnants on the M69 embankment just past hinckley still, dirty snow and not much left!?

Sleet at best here too. Though last night I didn't think it was cold enough anyway so not really surprised. Still it's another day with falling snowflakes for the extended Winter 2017/18 season so can't complain been as it has already provided 2 good snowy spells and the previous 4 didn't even really provide 1 between them.

Hi guys...

Do 2 snowflakes falling in the sleet count as a snow falling day? (Literally!)

I think that the MO count it as  valid.

What do you guys think?

I don't know about the official status, but to me if I see snowflakes coming down with my own eyes it's a snow falling day and all goes to count.

Yes, it does count.  Even a couple of blobs of sleet only noticeable on a wet car windscreen counts as a day with sleet/snow falling.
