Metoffice forecast:

Tonight:

Wintry showers becoming heavier and more prolonged in evening and spreading south, with some lying snow at low levels. Drier later in night with a few clear spells and frosty. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Thursday:

Rather cold and frosty, but mainly dry and bright with some sunshine. Wintry showers near coasts and perhaps more prolonged wintry weather in evening. Fresher northeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Maybe in for a surprise for some.  Hopefully

Wintry showers is what stands out to me. That is sleet.

As ever, some localised area will get lucky but it's all hit and miss.

Cracker of a day today. Solid blue skies. Max temp of 1.6c and currently 1.2c so should be a very sharp frost tonight. Any snow would be a bonus.

More organised band of showers heading into the Northwest as we speak. Maybe add to the nice seasonal covering from overnight....

What a day that is, took my wee lads for a walk round the Lough in Loughmacrory. Was absolutely packed with families doing the 12 days of Christmas trail.

The lougj still frozen around the edges.

There is not a country in the world to match Ireland's beauty! These lockdowns have made us get out and see what's on our doorstep.

Love seeing these big showers coming in from the North. This one just passing East of Derry now.

Yeah it's heading Ballykelly/Limavady direction. Just need temps to drop and hopefully another wee dusting tonight.

I never looked at the mountain in the picture. I’ve looked at both Benbradagh and Sawel enough to know the difference

As a Scot, I would say you're joking!

Lovely early frost here already,  hopefully catch a wee shower later on.

These warm cores really are a nuisance, and they often show up within 24 hours. Hopefully some of us further south can catch a snow shower at some stage during the night
