We have a new model to share with our Netweather Extra subscribers

It's early access / beta at the moment, but we'll be working up to a full release during the coming weeks, to include lots more chart types and a new style chart viewer, among other things.

For those who maybe don't know, the UKV model is run by the Met Office, at approx 1.5km resolution. It runs 8 times a day, with varying run times. The 03z and 15z updates go out to 120 hours, with 00z, 06z, 09z, 12z, 18z and 21z updates going out to 54 hours.

If you're a subscriber, you can access the chart viewer here:
https://www.netweather.tv/secure/cgi-bin/premium.pl?action=ukv;sess=

Please let me know if you have any feedback on it.

Hi Paul, can these charts be posted in the model output thread by people who have access?

Yes, that's fine - in reasonable quantities at least - eg not massive amounts, whole runs or every update etc

Blimey!!   That must be fairly expensive to buy, unless the MO have got another model ready to replace it - Netweather gets bigger and bigger every year!

Loving this - the level of detail is outstanding.  This really will help my understanding of the atmosphere.  Thanks NetWeather

I had a feeling it would excite some members. I have found it to be very good over the last three weeks or so.

Great stuff. Have been anticipating this since seeing Mapantz referring to the "secret model".

Hopefully a few convective products in future updates. Very nice.

I’m only subscribed to radar extra at the moment but you’re tempting me with this.

Nice but spotted a bug in precipitation charts. The precipitation says no but precipitation and slp shows precipitation and it matches up with present rainfall very well.

That must be a new issue as it has been working previously working fine.

The prec map should be fine on the next update (about 15 mins away).

We've also added a UKV option to the precip accumulation charts: (Just days 1 and 2 for now - bear in mind it may be showing different times to the Netwx model ones, so not like for like)
https://www.netweather.tv/secure/cgi-bin/premium.pl?action=accum;sess=

Also ground/surface temperature charts added from the next update.

Hi Paul,

Will CAPE/LI charts be coming to UKV too? I presume getting MOGREPS onto the site is still out of the question?

CAPE and LI should be along soon. As for mogreps, we don't have any plans to add it at this point, but never say never, as it would certainly be nice to have!

Is the storm risk/lightning chart active? Despite a storm risk on Thursday it appears to show absolutely nothing

No, it's not right at the moment, we're looking into how best to present the data.

It's just catching up at the moment, should be back on time again within the next couple of hours.

So it says one of the next charts are going to be convective cloud top. Is that the cloud top height overall? If not what is it

It's the height of convective cloud, so is another guide in terms of convective/storm potential and how strong that convection may be.
