It's been a long long time since we had a proper overhead storm here. They've gone left, right and just missed but last time we had a very decent storm.. (consider overhead strikes) was probably 2001 maybe 2003. Since then they've been close but no cigar .. as rare as a good snowfall if you will. It looks unfortunately to be a bit late in the day for storms here now so it looks like that trend will continue. Could do with a downpour still to be honest whether there is thunder or not

It's going very dark her, just checked radar, looks like we could be in for our first thunderstorm in many years...

Just a few drops of rain here, but we can see the cell over Liverpool flashing away.

Well absolutely nothing here thought my luck was changing after some good storms last year but back to normal now missed out by 15-20 miles

Hopefully we can get something more widespread for everyone tomorrow who missed out :oldgood:

Actually edit I can see some flashes in the distance but nothing close just some rain.

Think my reverse psychology worked seen a few decent strikes and some rumbles of thunder.

Still a few flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder to the west in South Cheshire when I put my head outside at 10.30pm last night but nothing to disturb my sleep. Stormy looking at 7am this morning and a few drops of rain but nothing more and sun has now come out.

Yes, I drove up to a vantage point, a few minutes from where l live and sat and watched it fade out to sea, a second cell also came up from my west not as intense, but with orange and pink embedded lightning, couldn't hear thunder much too far away, this cell took the same path as the first and went out north west somewhere over the Wirral. Both cells were still popping when l called it a night about 12,15am. 100% cloud coverage here at the moment, grey, and feeling a little cooler.

Too far east yet for my area to be affected by any showers, seems a line of showers last night and into this morning pushed on a trajectory just to the south east of Manchester into Merseyside/Cheshire... basically a 'Cheshire gap' setup in reverse.  Might miss them today as well, but I expect into the week ahead as the low pressure shifts slightly and more homegrown showers pop up with a subtle south west to north east air mass shift, then eastern parts of the region might get lucky.

Watched the flashes gradually head up through the Irish Sea off the coast nr Blackpool about 11pm last night  - we are 20 miles inland on the Fylde  - Liverpool and Cheshire looked "interesting" on the radar.

More of an electrical high altitude storm - we heard no Thunder just Lighting - a lot of it.

Pretty constant rumbling here only seen one flash assuming it is mostly IC lightning instead of CG.
