Most major models just make Sally a category 1 hurricane before landfall but we have seen them underestimate storm strength many times recently.

Regardless of strength, she is expected to move slowly over Louisiana and Mississippi so the Flood risk is going to be high.

Sally is getting better organised.

Now expected to make landfall as a category 2 slow moving hurricane!

Sally will move slowly so it will have most of the next 36 hours to strengthen. Models suggest cat 1/2 likely.

Wonder if she could squeeze major hurricane status before landfall? 110mph forecast at landfall but it wouldn’t take much to push it over the threshold

Couple of Cams on the Coast south of Mobile (to the West of Pensacola)  Looking very rough!

WARNING: They stupidly decided to put fake wave noises on the streams, so might as well just mute them

Hurricanes are strange and surprising beasts. Despite moving so slow over very warm waters, Sally has weakened this morning and she currently has 85mph sustained winds so back down to category 1.

I guess some dry air got in the mix.

Another Decent cam East of Pensacola.  You can see an occasional large wave climbing up the dune in the foreground.

Found the Co-ord's for these 2 hotels. Just copy paste them into Google Earth search box and press go

Beach Club Resort and Spa - 30°13'48.59"N,  87°52'33.28"W

Turquoise Place - 30°16'16.25"N, 87°34'28.03"W

If Sally continues on it's present course, the first one should end up in the eye, whist the 2nd one should be in/on the edge of the NE/E/SE Eyewall as it passes over...  Well... If they survive and the power doesn't go down

Sally has re-strengthened over night and she currently has 105mph sustained wnds. She is making landfall currently between Mobile and Pensacola but moving at only 2mph. There is going to me some extreme flooding as a result.
