Hi jay,

Best places are Brecon Beacons and north Valleys, saying that some transient snow in early hours possible in Cardiff, not sure it will settle thou.

Dew points hovering around 2 -3c but should lower with heavy precipitation.

More opportunities around 5th Jan too

This year actually looks quite interesting ( Winter 2020 - 2021)

I live in Caerphilly now mate, bought a house there back last year. Should hopefully increase the chance of some snow.

That will help, further from the warm sea and a little more elevation

I'll take a dusting of snow lol at this stage. Would you say it's worth even staying up for it? I'm not back in work until 4th jan anyway so not worried about sleep.

That choice is for you, the precipitation currently over Ireland is our first chance, i would suggest early to bed and get up around 5am.  just because you may be too tired to enjoy it if you stay up al night.

sensible option i think - coldest part of the day so a good chance anything that does fall will be snow

After a day of heavy wintry showers with snowline around 450m - who knows if it'll snow here in north west Wales tonight. Temperature is currently hovering around 1C even with clouds so hopefully it's cold enough!

Watching the radar, incoming from the north west, Irish sea. I'm 1000ft ASL, think I'm in for some snow in the next hour or so here in Dinorwic.

Newy fynd a ci am dro, dal dipy bach o eira ar y ceir ers bora ma. Dwi'n gweld y precipitation ar y radar just yn cyraedd Holyhead rwan, gobeitho 'da ni digon uchel i fo ddisgyn fel eira, 40 mins-awr ella.

Just taken the dog for a walk, still a little bit of snow on the cars since this morning. I can see the precipitation from Ireland just reaching Holyhead now, hopefully we are high enough for it to fall as snow. A other 40 mins or so before it reaches us here.

Where are you situated Liam? Also icy here now with temp down to - 1.3 and clear sky's but no wind at all. Looking promising though.

I'm in a village called Deiniolen (which is around 200m asl) northern side of Snowdonia - not far from Llanberis.

Yes, it's snowing, it did actually turn quite sleety for a little while but big fat flakes now and the temperature is actually falling - currently 0.9C
