So glad it’s snowed brings out the community during these bad times great to see the kids and adults having fun on the street on what normally would be a gloomy winter morning with rain.

Unfortunately now temps are starting to rise and we have that drip drip sound. Does look like we could see a sleety mix around New Year’s Eve. But apart from that not really sure of our next snow fix. But if this is all we see this winter it will do me.

Pretty impressive depths around Graves Park in Sheffield considering the time period. Possibly 7cm.  Just 1cm  here and melting fast.

For me new years eve looks a snow to rain sleet event.  If it's rain then it will be freezing rain.

Wonder why they think turning to rain? I thought conditions were due to improve to be less marginal then today later in the week?

So another warning out for New Year’s Eve. But does sound very much like a snow to rain event never particularly nice. Especially if it leads to freezing rain. Also what has happened in the mod thread today the gfs06z wants to send us into alsorts from snow then into bbq and shorts very weird weather. Anyway enjoy the snow over the next few days folks because it might be awhile till we see anymore.

Great to see all your snow photos this morning (and many more on Twitter) but all we could manage here was a bit of ice and a few well scattered flakes on the odd car roof... not even enough to call it a dusting! Temp now up to 4.0c.

Looking ahead, Thursday morning looks like the next time period for possible snow. As others have mentioned, it becomes marginal as higher T850s and >528 dam filters south. Models also quite inconsistent on both when, where and how much precipitation there’ll be. I’d say western half of North Yorks, West and South Yorks best place to be as things stand (no surprises there!!).

Can someone please show this to the gfs & ecm this morning please. Hopefully just a model wobble. As they want us having bbq into the new year.

The proper snow forecasts for us to the east of the region never seem to get any closer, will be end of January at this rate.
