Agree. There’s hasn’t been loads of rain but hardly any sun.

Parts of NI have had less than 50% of normal sunshine. it could be a record breaking dull Summer.

Looking forward to the two days of heat next week.

At the bottom of this IT article about the forthcoming heatwave is a discussion about how the official record from 1887 is probbaly bogus anyway.

Ireland could see hottest day since records began on Monday with 34 degrees forecast

The highest reliable temperature is the 32.5 degrees recorded on June 29th 1976 at Boora, Co Offaly.

The paper abstract is here (stll under review).

Great forecasting by all the models today......NOT!  Rained virtually all day with a max temp of 20.  Maybe, and I stress maybe, 3 days of some sort of summer from tomorrow until Tuesday then back to usual dross of cloud and showers for the next 2 weeks!😣

Indeed. After our one day of hot spell yesterday,  it is back to cloud and Occasional rain whilst the SE of England continues to bask in endless sun.

I can confirm that that is the case as I’m here for a while, though Sunday and Monday were amazing in the Northwest

Yes, the past couple of days have been marvellous. Very muggy now as the cold front starts to push East and clouds over.

At this point I don't mind the cloud cover, as long as it doesn't rain over the weekend because I really would like to cut the grass and not have the mover jammed up.

Its been a real pain doing that this summer, every weekend I am waiting for the grass to dry out just enough to get it cut.

Just had a nice storm pass by me (Dublin), rather messy and sporadic, some IC and one CG, light rain, mostly coastal, I'm mostly waiting for late night action if at all lucky.

Humidity is high now.

It would be typical with the energy prices to get the type of winter most on here are normally looking for.

A serious downpour (think continental thunderstorms) on the east coast just now, roadway turned into a river and the gutters didn't cope at all (not just my neglected gutters!). Loe the extremes of weather, sadly think they won't be extremes any more and more the norm!

Looking forward to a winter where that bast##d snow shield gets blasted away.

Has no-one got sanything to say about the storms on the east coast? I can see it's thundering on Twitter, but deadly silent in here!

No thunderstorms up here yet, but relentless heavy rain for over 8 hours now.

Completely unforecast
