A very cold rte forecast for the next week. Temps struggling to reach 3c most days with hard frost most nights. Could always be a surprise snowfall and that includes from showers later tonight.

There's been rain/sleet here for an hour (showery), courtesy of a small streamer.

Freezing hard already tonight, the roads are like a bottle

Had a heavy hail shower just before the sunset.  It's like glass out there already.

I wanted to take the roadbike out early tomorrow morning. If it's to freeze that might not be so smart

I’m kind of hoping so, looks decent for Dublin anyway!!!

Yes ,potential for Dublin and some other eastern parts looking at tonight's ecm for Tue.  Any showers forming in the Irish sea (If they do as pressure looks  high) would imagine would have a good chance of falling as snow a few km inland in -7c uppers.

    Easterly followed by Northerly hopefully.

Proper Northerly looks dodgy now but that might change.....models kind of messy  looking tonight albeit still cold ....but rather than a'northerly, it looks like a messier evolution with proper heights not gaining traction in Greeenland but snow opportunities still in the mix ....lots of twists and turns to come no doubt

Maybe get a trough dropping South with widespread snow a possibility.

All cold options on the table at the moment.

If the ECM is correct, we're now looking away out to the last third of the month for proper cold.

Despite getting down to -2 early last night, the showers from the North were of rain.

We've been in this Northerly airstream for nearly a week and it has been very disappointing.

I've gave up on snow for now but would love to see a few frosty nights.

It currently now 6 degrees here with uppers of -6 degrees.

That's a 12 degree increase in only 4500 feet or so.

    Incredible.

And temp near freezing across the water in the Northerly flow soon to turn easterly.

Max today of 3.8c and currently 1.9c so should be a good frost at least. Should cool the ground more so we will benefit if and when it does snow.

Can't see any widespread snow for a couple of weeks whilst we wait for the SSW to impact.

BBC weekly giving showers midweek, any faith in these?

    Rain, sleet or snow?

There might be a small few, but fleeting.

A band of rain sleet or snow likely to lush down from north around Wed night or Thursday I would think......wintry showers following.....up to then chance of some sleet or snow showers in eastern Leinster could give s dusting / light covering in places

Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
