We spoke to him on fizogtime.  He mentioned DANA.  I will have to read about it.  The only DANA we knew was a charming lass from NI who won the Eurovision song contest!

Nick's latest about the DANA in Spain this week.

An upper level low or DANA moves southwest over Iberia next few days bringing a new episode of intense rainfall and risk of flash-flooding to parts of southern and eastern Spain this week.

AEMET 'Meteorological phenomenon: Very heavy to torrential rains and showers. 2.-Geographic scope: Mediterranean coasts and western Andalusia.  Tuesday the 12th- At least until Friday the 15th. Degree of probability: Very high (greater than 70%). Meteorological situation: It is expected that during today, Tuesday, a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) moves from France towards the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, moving from northeast to southwest and remaining in our environment, at least until Friday the 15th. The increase in instability will go accompanied by the entry of a humid Mediterranean flow from the east, so it is very likely very strong and persistent rainfall, locally torrential, accompanied by of storms and maritime storms in the Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean side; and, starting Thursday also in western Andalusia.' transl.
