Signing out now, a great weekend guys ❄️

It’s the 1st day of Winter this forthcoming Weds, I did look into starting a New Midlands Discussion for Weds, it’s seems a member can’t start a new thread anymore....as ‘Feb 2021 onwards’ is a little long and outdated

I’m sure if I asked nicely, one of our Midland Mods will sort this

Kind regards, DWW

Even as a mod, kinda think it is a shame that members can’t start new regional weather threads. I’ll try whip up a new one for Wednesday ☃️

A great few wintry days it’s been, a chance certainly that Thursday morning could throw up another snowy surprise for a number of us!

Dang, i was in mild ol' ireland the past few days where snow is very hard to come by in Dublin, so very jealous of the snow reports but when i landed this morning i saw to the north of Birmingham in particular that there was a decent covering of snow for MILES, whereas south and to an extent west of the city it was less visible, so i'm guessing Stourbridge saw a temporary covering but it quickly vanished on saturday. Exciting times ahead though looking at the models!

Haven't looked at the models but I presume that the slider low?  We usually do well from them very knife edge though

Yeah. Shame that particular outcome for Saturday has no support from other models, but the general output across the model suite does bring the potential for a few sliders as low pressure moves north west to south east rather than the normal west to east movement. Such a setup can deliver the goods for our region.

Still a chance a lot of us could get snow tomorrow night, though it might end up like a repeat of Sunday here yet and end up too far east.

An update regarding the Icon for Saturday, the 12z Icon’s forecast for snowfall is now forecasted for Northern England, at this stage it’s all provisional I must add

But for now and this evening all I could find is the GEM for Friday

Come on guys and gals....it’s the first day of Winter tomorrow...

You all know...my glass/pint is always half full

Icon is crap! system is going way too far north on main models

Matt on Thursday last week, was the one who pick up on the Icon for Saturdays morning snowfall and at that stage the other models wasn’t showing much interest.....so for now it’s all provisional as it’s only Tuesday evening

Thursday morning’s snow risk looks somewhat diminished. We get colder upper air temperatures but dew points rise too high near the surface.

The 18z Icon is showing something for Thursday morning, it’s a start

While still likely to change, wish it could be timed for couples hours earlier

With December now also here, (and as talked about couple days ago), gonna be putting the padlock on this thread and unlocking a new thread ☃️

New thread:
