I spent July, August and September in South Tyneside, and experienced about half a dozen sunshine-and-showers days, if that, spanned over the three months.

My last showery day there was back on the 13th September.

Yet the moment I come to Lancaster University, my first day here throws up a complete mix, with sunny intervals, rainstorms varying from 30 minutes to 10 seconds in duration, and a great sunset. Admittedly we did miss the thunderstorms that affected nearby parts of the region, and the clouds weren't very well defined particularly to the west (a Morecambe Bay characteristic, particularly on windy days), but it's noticable that my interest in weather waned over the summer, and is already being rekindled now I'm back at uni.

Tyneside, incidentally, was apparently dry and sunny all day.
