Sunday 2 Apr - Tuesday 11 Apr

The start of this period is most likely to be changeable. Showers or longer spells of rain remain prevalent, with heavy bursts still likely in places on Sunday. Drier and brighter interludes are possible as well, mainly across western regions, however these may be short-lived as further bands of rain are expected to arrive from the west. Eastern coasts may be rather grey and misty at times. The latter part of the period looks likely to become more settled, albeit with some wetter interludes, these most likely in the south and west of the country. Stronger winds at times, but temperatures remaining close to average, feeling pleasant in any sunshine. There is potential for overnight frost where skies are clear in the north and east.

Wednesday 12 Apr - Wednesday 26 Apr

Throughout this period there is likely to be a split in conditions between the north and south of the UK. Any unsettled weather is likely to take a southerly track, while higher pressure to the north should provide some generally drier weather here. Overall, it is likely to be somewhat drier than March across the country. Temperatures are uncertain, but there is a potential for cooler conditions at times, especially in the north and east, with a chance of overnight frosts.

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/uk

Suggests strong heights to the NW, perhaps ridging south for a time with low pressure to the SW or the south - no early spring warmth on offer.

I'm sure the outlook for the south for days 6-15 has been sounding rather more miserable in these updates for the past few days than what has been showing on the models...

Tuesday 4 Apr - Thursday 13 Apr

The start of this period is likely to be rather changeable, with weather systems moving in from the west to bring showers and longer spells of rain. Drier, brighter interludes are expected at times, however these may be short-lived as further bands of rain move in. Wettest conditions are most likely across southern and western parts of the UK, while the north and east are expected to remain drier. The latter part of this period looks to become more settled, particularly in northern parts where there is potential for high pressure to take over. Further south, more wetter interludes are expected. Stronger winds at times, although temperatures remaining close to average. There is a chance of cooler conditions and overnight frosts where skies clear in the north and east.

Overall, somewhere drier in comparison to March across the country. Temperatures are uncertain, but there remains a chance of colder conditions, especially to the north and east where overnight frost risk remains.

Wednesday 5 Apr - Friday 14 Apr

The start of this period is likely to be rather changeable, with weather systems moving in from the west to bring scattered showers and spells of rain. Thick cloud will bring some rain and drizzle at times, most likely across the west. Drier and brighter interludes are expected to develop across the UK as a whole, although still with the possibility of some unsettled spells, particularly towards the end of this period. It may be that the wettest weather is most probable in the south and west. Winds expected to be generally light during this time but there may be some stronger periods, particularly later on. Temperatures likely remaining close to or possibly just above average.

Saturday 15 Apr - Saturday 29 Apr

There is currently an equal balance between the likelihood of settled and unsettled weather through the rest of April. Any unsettled weather may take a more southerly track than usual, while higher pressure to the north may provide higher chances of drier weather. It is most likely that temperatures will be close to, or just above average.

Suggests to me blocking to the NE, and low pressure to the SW, a SE feed meaning driest conditions further north and west, SE parts could pull in some warmer continental air at times but may be combined with wet weather, would make for quite an interesting April.

Yes, a trend towards a warmer outlook compared to yesterday's update.

Thursday 6 Apr - Saturday 15 Apr

A fine start to the period, with increasingly cloudy and mild conditions. A band of rain, accompanied by extensive low cloud, will slowly move eastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland. The south and east of England is expected to remain dry, with clear or sunny spells. With time, drier and brighter interludes are expected to develop across the UK as a whole, although still with the possibility of some unsettled spells, particularly towards the end of this period. It may be that the wettest weather is most probable in the south and west. Winds expected to be generally light during this time but there may be some spells of windier weather, towards mid-April. Temperatures likely remaining close to or a little above average.

Sunday 16 Apr - Sunday 30 Apr

Confidence in the forecast remains quite low for the second half of April. There is potential for more widely unsettled and perhaps windy weather at first, otherwise the chance of rain will be higher further to the south through this period. Meanwhile higher pressure to the north may provide higher chances of drier weather. It is most likely that temperatures will be close to, or just above average.

Friday 7 Apr - Sunday 16 Apr

Confidence is relatively low throughout this period, however many areas are expected to see mostly fine and dry weather, with sunny spells becoming increasingly common with time. Any cloud will bring a chance of spells of rain or drizzle to eastern areas on Friday, but then any rain is most likely across the west and southwest over the following week. Winds are expected to be relatively light. By mid-April, there is a chance of a period of more unsettled conditions bringing spells of wetter and windier weather more widely. Temperatures are likely to be near normal or slightly above, although these may drop quickly under any clear skies after dark, leaving scope for some overnight frosts.

Monday 17 Apr - Monday 1 May

Confidence in the forecast remains quite low for the second half of April. There is potential for more widely unsettled and perhaps windy weather at first, otherwise the chance of rain will be higher further south through this period. Meanwhile higher pressure to the north may provide higher chances of drier weather. It is most likely that temperatures will be close to, or just above average.

Sunday 9 Apr - Tuesday 18 Apr

Possibly some light rain and drizzle across western areas on Sunday, these conditions being most likely in the far northwest. Remaining dry elsewhere, though with a small chance of isolated light showers in the south. Temperatures around average or slightly above, with light winds, but with winds strengthening in the northwest, feeling cooler as a result. Through mid-April, dry, settled conditions are most likely in southern and eastern parts, with winds most likely to be light. However, across northern and western areas, there will likely be more in the way of cloudy conditions, presenting a greater chance of wet and windier weather. During this period, temperatures are most likely to be close to average or slightly above.

Wednesday 19 Apr - Wednesday 3 May

Confidence in the forecast remains quite low for the second half of April and early May. Generally, a continuation of conditions through mid-April is most likely. However, there is potential for more widely unsettled and perhaps windy weather at first, before settled conditions re-establish later in the month. It is most likely that temperatures will be close to or just above average.

Monday 10 Apr - Wednesday 19 Apr

On Monday, eastern and southeastern areas will be dry at first, but the north and west will have a damp start with rain here pushing eastwards across the rest of the UK through the day. Sunny spells and showers will follow from the west, some heavy at times. Breezy with a risk of coastal gales in the north. A period of unsettled weather with rain and strong winds, especially in the northwest, is likely through the middle of next week. Beyond this, the driest and most settled conditions are likely to be in the south and east. The north and west is expected to be more unsettled with a greater chance of periods of rain and strong winds. Temperatures are most likely to be slightly above average during this period.

Thursday 20 Apr - Thursday 4 May

Confidence in the forecast remains quite low for the second half of April and early May. Generally, a continuation of conditions through mid-April is most likely. However, there is potential for more widely unsettled and perhaps windy weather at first, before settled conditions re-establish later in the month. It is most likely that temperatures will be close to or just above average.

Tuesday 11 Apr - Thursday 20 Apr

Tuesday will likely mark the arrival of a low pressure system to or close to the UK, bringing generally unsettled conditions for the first few days of this period, with strong winds and rain. Coastal gales possible, mainly in the west and northwest. By Thursday these winds should ease, but further rain or showers are possible. Beyond this, the driest and most settled conditions are likely to be in the south and east. The north and west is expected to be more unsettled with a greater chance of periods of rain and strong winds. Temperatures are most likely to be around average during the initial spell of unsettled weather, with a chance of some slightly above average temperatures for the rest of the period.

Friday 21 Apr - Friday 5 May

Confidence in the forecast remains quite low for the second half of April and early May. Generally, a continuation of conditions through mid-April is most likely. However, there is potential for more widely unsettled and perhaps windy weather at first, before settled conditions re-establish later in the month. Getting married at the end of the month so have started watching the long range forecasts like a hawk. BBC seems to be more optimistic towards settled drier weather, whereas Met and Netweather seem to be less certain.

Wednesday 12 Apr - Friday 21 Apr

An unsettled start to the period with strong winds for many and outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, for most if not all areas. Coastal gales are also possible, mainly in the west and northwest. By Thursday these winds should ease, but further rain or showers are possible. Beyond this, the driest and most settled conditions are likely to be in the south and east. The north and west are expected to be more unsettled with a greater chance of periods of rain and strong winds. Temperatures are most likely to be around average during the initial spell of unsettled weather, with a chance of some slightly above average temperatures for the rest of the period.

Saturday 22 Apr - Saturday 6 May

Confidence in the forecast remains low for the end of April and early May. In general, there is a greater chance of more settled weather developing in this period, increasing the likelihood of morning fog patches and late season night frosts, but unsettled spells could also continue. Temperatures are most likely to be above average for the time of year.

Thursday 13 Apr - Saturday 22 Apr

Sunshine and showers for many areas on Thursday, but some further wet weather, with the risk of coastal gales, looks likely to affect many parts during Friday and Saturday. Into the following week, any further spells of wind and rain will likely be more confined to northern and western areas, with parts of the south and east standing the best chance of remaining dry with some sunshine. Beyond mid-month, whilst uncertainty exists in the wider weather pattern in the vicinity of the UK, there is an increased chance of more prolonged settled spells developing. Whilst some reasonable warmth can be expected in association with sunny days when coupled with light winds, there remains the likelihood of late season frosts and some morning fog patches.

Sunday 23 Apr - Sunday 7 May

Confidence in the forecast is fairly low for the end of April and early May. In general, there is a greater chance of more settled weather dominating during this period, maintaining the likelihood of morning fog patches and late season night frosts. However, there is also a chance of seeing some unsettled or changeable spells of weather too. Temperatures are most likely to be above average overall for the time of year.

Friday 14 Apr - Sunday 23 Apr

Friday likely generally cloudy with some rain or showers, these most likely in the south and southwest, with some rain also possible along North Sea coasts. The best of any brighter weather more likely across parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Over the weekend, unsettled weather likely becoming focussed towards the northwest, with strong winds possible here. The best of any dry interludes along with lighter winds predicted in the south and east. Warming up a little through the weekend to above average temperatures for most by Sunday. Further into the period, the trend is towards less unsettled weather more widely, with increasing drier spells. Probably feeling quite pleasant in sunshine by day, but some chilly nights.

Monday 24 Apr - Monday 8 May

Confidence in the forecast is fairly low for the end of April and early May. In general, there is a greater chance of more settled weather dominating during this period, maintaining the likelihood of morning fog patches and late season night frosts. Sunday 16 Apr - Tuesday 25 Apr

Rather cloudy on Sunday with some rain and drizzle likely at times in the west. Mostly dry elsewhere, with some sunny spells especially in the east, and feeling warm in any sunshine. Light to moderate winds. Into the start of the week, a ridge of high pressure is likely to develop, resulting in fine and dry conditions for many, with breaks in the cloud likely, especially to the lee of high ground. These settled conditions are expected to continue later in the period, with frequent dry weather for most, perhaps with the odd shower. However, the chance of showers increasing later, especially in the southwest. Temperatures generally above average through the period, and locally very warm in the sunshine at times.

Wednesday 26 Apr - Wednesday 10 May

Confidence in the forecast is low for the end of April towards mid-May. In general, there is a greater chance of a settled weather regime, maintaining the likelihood of clearer and drier conditions. However, periods of more changeable and unsettled weather are still possible. Temperatures trending above average is more likely than below.

Monday 17 Apr - Wednesday 26 Apr

Patchy cloud on Monday, mainly in the west and north, with the odd light shower and drizzle possible. However, most places most likely will remain dry with some bright and sunny spells. Stronger winds predicted in the far northwest, but light winds elsewhere. Further into the week a ridge of high pressure will likely develop resulting in fine and dry conditions for many, with sunny spells, especially to the lee of high ground. Cloudier skies in the northwest, with dampness possible. These settled conditions are expected to continue later in the period, with frequent dry weather for most, perhaps with the odd shower. The chance of showers increasing later, especially in the southwest. Temperatures generally above average throughout the period, and locally very warm in the sunshine at times.

Thursday 27 Apr - Thursday 11 May

Confidence in the forecast is low for the end of April towards mid-May. In general, there is a greater chance of a settled weather regime, maintaining the likelihood of clearer and drier conditions. Tuesday 18 Apr - Thursday 27 Apr

Some cloud in the north on Tuesday, which may be thick enough to produce some light rain or drizzle. However, most places staying dry with sunny spells. Light or moderate winds, feeling warm for most but cooler near northern Sea coasts. Thereafter, much of the UK likely to be under the influence of high pressure producing fine, dry conditions. Cloudier skies and perhaps some dampness to the far west. Otherwise, some good cloud breaks likely, especially to the lee of high ground. Temperatures around average to rather warm. Eastern coastal areas likely cooler with an onshore breeze, also some locally chilly nights in good shelter. Increasing likelihood of some showers later in the week, especially in the SW. Temperatures above average, locally well above average.

Friday 28 Apr - Friday 12 May

Confidence in the forecast is low for the end of April towards mid-May. In general, there is a greater chance of a settled weather regime, maintaining the likelihood of clearer and drier conditions. Thursday 20 Apr - Saturday 29 Apr

Most places staying settled and dry with sunny spells, the best of these to the north and west. Becoming cloudier through Thursday and into the weekend, with an increasing chance of showers, most likely towards the south. Most areas feeling reasonable in shelter and sunshine, though southern and eastern coasts are likely to feel cooler in fresh easterly winds. High pressure is likely to remain centred to the north or northeast of the UK through late-April, leading to a fair amount of fine and dry weather persisting, although the chance of showers, mainly in the south, remains. Temperatures likely rather warm to warm towards the end of the month, especially in the west and northwest. Some eastern coasts may stay cooler, and perhaps locally chilly overnight in sheltered parts.

Sunday 30 Apr - Sunday 14 May

Confidence in the forecast is low for the end of April towards mid-May. In general, there is a greater chance of a settled weather regime, maintaining the likelihood of clearer and drier conditions. However, periods of more changeable and unsettled weather are still possible. Temperatures probably returning closer to average for the time of year.

Met Office seem to think warm is classified as mid teen temps at best, given that is what we have in prospect, locally high teens in some NW parts, I guess relative to the April average the word 'warm' is being used, but such temps in June- Aug would be classed as 'cool', in May and Sept average, they should say warmer than average I feel..
