Monday 28 Mar - Wednesday 6 Apr

Still settled for many at the start of next week but a trend to showery and colder conditions is expected to take place from the north from Monday. Showers will likely be focused on northern and eastern areas, potentially wintry over northern hills and at lower levels in the far northeast. A good deal of dry weather persisting in the south and west. Potential for strong winds in the far northeast early in the period. Later next week and beyond, more unsettled conditions are likely with more frequent showers or longer spells of rain for many areas. After a spell of below average temperatures next week, temperatures are likely to return to near average later in the period.

Thursday 7 Apr - Thursday 21 Apr

The weather is likely to turn more unsettled in early April. Showers or longer spells of rain are more likely to be seen across the UK, although short drier and more settled interludes are still possible. Showers may be heavy at times, with thunder and hail. Moving into mid-April, there is a trend for a return to more settled weather again, although some rain and showers are still possible in places. Temperatures are likely to be near average, with the south and southeast on the slightly warmer side.

Sunday 3 Apr - Tuesday 12 Apr

Rather uncertain weather at the start of this period, but it will gradually become more changeable and less cold than the current week. Periods of cloud and rain are probable, most likely across the north, where rain may be heavy and/or prolonged on high ground, while the southwest will perhaps hang on to drier weather for longer. Unsettled conditions are expected to continue later in the week - most areas will see spells of rain or showers, potentially wintry on high ground at times. Drier and more settled spells of weather are still possible, but more short-lived than recently. Showers will be heavy at times, with hail and thunder. Strong winds are also likely at times, particularly in the north and west, with temperatures mainly near or slightly above average.

Wednesday 13 Apr - Wednesday 27 Apr

Likely remaining unsettled during the start of this period, with periods of rain and showers and likely brief drier interludes Showers may be heavy at times, some perhaps thundery with a chance of hail. Strong winds are also probable, particularly to the north and west. Towards late April, there are tentative signs of more settled conditions redeveloping, although rain and showers remain possible. Temperatures looking to be above average, especially in the south, and likely to be closer to average across the north.

This period is likely to begin with rain moving east, easing as it does so, with early mist and fog. Mostly fine conditions are expected in eastern and southern areas, with light winds, though low cloud may linger near eastern coasts. Some light showers are possible across central southern areas. For the rest of the period, a northwest-southeast split is likely, with the northwest remaining more changeable with strong winds and rain at times. Some rain may occasionally spread into parts of the southeast at first, but it is likely to turn dry and become generally much more settled, though perhaps rather cloudy, in the south, with lighter winds through to the end of this period. Temperatures are expected to be above average, and warm at times for the south.

Towards the end of April high pressure is likely to become dominant, with longer spells of dry and settled weather possible, especially in the south. Temperatures are anticipated to stay above average during this period, though overnight frosts are still possible. Any unsettled spells most likely to be in the north and northwest.

Thursday 21 Apr - Saturday 30 Apr

To start, there is a risk of showers in the south with drizzle and cloud in the northeast. The northwest is expected to remain dry and bright with sunny spells. Winds will be moderate and feeling fresh in the north and temperatures will be slightly below average for eastern areas into the weekend. Overall, there will be plenty of dry weather with sunny spells, but also some showers or periods of rain. Continuing to be changeable thereafter with spells of more prolonged rain at times, particularly in the south and west, perhaps becoming more settled towards the end of the period. Winds are expected to remain generally light with a risk of strong winds later, especially in the south and west. Temperatures are expected to be close to average.

Sunday 1 May - Sunday 15 May

Likely to begin the period with unsettled weather, bringing outbreaks of rain in places, especially the south, and probable fine and dry weather often in the north. Turning more settled, with most likely a good deal of fine and dry weather for the remainder of the period, although there is still a chance of some brief unsettled spells at times. Temperatures are most likely to be above normal.

Saturday 30 Apr - Monday 9 May

Into the start of this period most areas are likely to remain dry with sunny spells, although outbreaks of rain may spread across the north, with patchy cloud elsewhere from time to time. Daytime temperatures will remain near normal or slightly above, but colder nights, mainly in the south could see some patchy frost in sheltered rural areas. Moving through the middle and later part of this period there is a risk of more unsettled conditions bringing spells of rain, mainly to the north and west, with patchy showers at times mainly in the east, and potentially some cooler air for a time. Winds are likely to remain light, with the greatest chance of stronger breezes along the east coast. Temperatures will generally remain near to, or slightly below normal.

Tuesday 10 May - Tuesday 24 May

Settled conditions can be expected for most through the middle of May, with clear or sunny spells, and mostly dry weather. Things could turn generally more unsettled for a time, with a chance of showers in some areas, and possibly some more prolonged rainfall for some. However, drier, and more settled conditions are expected to return towards the end of May, with temperatures close to or above average for this time.

Tuesday 3 May - Thursday 12 May

On Tuesday, it is expected to be cloudy in the north and northwest with some rain at times. There may be some showers elsewhere, however some southern parts are likely to remain dry. For the rest of the week, much of the south is likely to see the mostly dry weather continuing, with sunny spells. Further north it is likely to be cloudier with some light rain at times. Light winds are expected, with above average temperatures. Into the following week, some unsettled weather is likely in the north, and perhaps some central areas at times, with potentially some cooler air too. It is probable southern areas will remain more settled throughout with temperatures likely to be above normal.

Friday 13 May - Friday 27 May

Settled conditions look likely to continue dominating through mid-May across southern areas, with a lot of dry weather. Meanwhile, spells of rain may affect northern areas. Towards the end of May it is expected to turn more unsettled, with sunshine and showers, some of these likely heavy and thundery, for many parts of the country. Some drier days are still possible, as is usual for late spring. Temperatures most likely above normal for all areas, with an increased chance of warm spells.

Wednesday 11 May - Friday 20 May

The start of the period will see sunny spells and locally heavy showers for many areas, with more persistent rain likely across the south. We can expect a contrast between the north and south with a keen breeze and near normal temperatures in the northwest and lighter winds with higher temperatures in the southeast. With occasional outbreaks of rain in the northwest, the high pressure will most likely persist in the south, bringing settled conditions and sunny spells here over the weekend. Fine dry weather continues for most of the following week, but the contrast continues into the rest of the month. More changeable conditions can be expected in the north and northwest, with breezier and showery weather, while warm or locally hot conditions are possible in the south.

Saturday 21 May - Saturday 4 Jun

The end of May is likely to bring more unsettled weather, with spells of rain or showers for most, and some heavy and thundery showers are possible. Drier and sunnier spells remain likely, particularly in the south and southwest. Temperatures are likely to remain above average, with very warm spells possible, especially in the southeast.

Temperatures close to average, but perhaps below average in the northwest, though it will still feel warm in the sunshine. Towards the end of next week, rain or showers are possible, most likely in the northeast by this stage, where it will be breezy. Drier further southwest with lighter winds. Friday 15 Jul - Sunday 24 Jul

On Friday, England and Wales can expect to see dry and sunny conditions with light winds, while across Scotland and Northern Ireland, scattered showers are likely. Through the weekend and early next week, sunny and dry conditions will prevail for most under the influence of high pressure, though showers and stronger winds are likely across the northwest at times. Thundery showers are occasionally possible in the south and southwest too. Away from the northwest, temperatures will rise through the weekend, with most areas becoming very warm or hot by Sunday, with the potential for a very hot spell in parts of central, south, or east England. The latter part of this period may then see cooler and more widely unsettled conditions returning across the UK.

Monday 25 Jul - Monday 8 Aug

After a spell of more changeable conditions for many areas, high pressure will likely bring more settled weather again to the south and southwest. This may extend more widely across the UK, bringing generally fine weather for most, however the northwest will continue to see the majority of any cloud and rain. Temperatures will likely be above average for most, especially in the south, with the potential for it to be hot across England and Wales. However, temperatures perhaps returning close to normal again for most by the end of this period, except in the south where it may remain warm or very warm.

UKMO remaining less bullish in it's 1400 update with it's take on the models.

5th-14th Dec

A cold northerly flow is likely to develop, drawing temperatures below average and feeling even colder at times, particularly during fresh winds. This may bring some wintry weather, with an increased risk of overnight frost and perhaps snow showers, not confined to higher ground.
