As I've just mentioned on the mod thread, most models tonight seem to think 90mph will be achieved close to built up areas in the NE. A red warning would not surprise me.

Icon 18Z - is that 180km/h just off Teeside? I think I've added the colours up correctly. It all feels a bit surreal.

GFS 18Z out - it was the last main model resembling the Met Office warning at 12Z - but it's now come into line - 90mph hits the NE on this model too now

Looking very wild across the North east in my location tomorrow evening.  I don't think I've seen charts like it for my area before? To be fair it's likely to not be as intense (I'm hoping) as they suggest but even so a downgrade on those charts would still bring some severe disruption across the area!

Looks like another model into the 110mph category.

I'm torn between thinking - are we looking at an historic wind event here? And, surely it isn't going to be that bad, because things like this don't happen?

And... you know the script... apparently a women (fictiously)  rang the BBC etc...  Yes it did happen and no doubt it will happen somewhere again.

Winds of that speed normally come from the west or north-west and cause problems at the best of times, but to have those sort of gusts from the north would be highly unusual and would cause much more damage.

Potential storm surge to go with all that wind too.
