Well the squall has just gone through, and as usual the wind DROPPED but the heavens opened with hailstones, and the temperature has dropped from 08.3C to 05.6C.

Have you tried looking at this morning models? I suggest windy.com and use the ECM and change to MPH for the UK, even has Beaufort scale if you prefer. Anyway, West Cork station, official showing mean wind at 69Mph last hour and max gust 84 mph. So depends where you are. I am in the north east and I've see a lot of storms, when that from went over between 8 and 10 am at times it was extraordinary, particularly on the last edge, tropical heavy hail and rain horizontal with sever gusts.

I was referring to our area here in Wales.

I know Ireland is getting it this morning as thats were the worst is supposed to occur first.

I still don't know when the worst is suppose to happen here, this afternoon or into the night hours?

I believe looking at your location, post 18:00 through to maybe 9.00 am you are looking at mean speeds of about 30mph, perhaps gusting a bit, turning SW to WNW during the early hours. So depending on your local geography you'll notice it more or less as the wind turns. Won't ever get stormy in your location due to the nature of this particular storm heading NE over Ireland and filling. About dawn tomorrow the center of the low will be filling due north of you.

Well that was disappointing. The squall has gone through, Maximum gust 32mph and that was about 30 minutes before the squall line.

Without doubt, it was weaker that anticipated, particularly for down here. I have already had several text messages saying "Is that it?" So I know I'm not the only one ..

I'm WFH but Mrs Mention is at work and goes to a local shop at lunch, so I suggested she be careful, what out for thing getting blown about. Luckily it wasn't needed, but it's annoying. The 06Z GFS was giving gusts to 45mph at lunchtime.

Windy and heavy rain here between 14:50 and 15:10 as what appears from Netweather radar to be a squall line passed through - now calm and clearing and pressure has bottomed out by the look of it.

Nothing really exciting here, went to the wye downs which is expected to be windy and then went down to hythe to see how it is at the coast. The waves were nice but nothing I would say extraordinary, all in all just a usual winter storm though this one has given more rain then Arwan did.

Am I the only one who likes days like these, strong winds don't seem to have materialised though, my friends seemed to think the wind gusts here were crazy until I told them about the gusts in Ireland.

I just love days like these, I've no idea why but the bad weather lifts my spirits and I get excited as a kid in a toy shop !
