Once again, Sammy will begin this Morning's Synoptic analysis, with the European Model, with the "big Day" now at T120.

There are reasonable heights over Greenland, fortified by a Ridge from an area of High Pressure, over the North Pole.

An elongated area of Low Pressure, straddles the North of the North Atlantic. It's centre of around <970 mbs, is located a few hundred Miles E.N.E., of Newfoundland. The Eastern extent of this feature, has already made inroads into the South Coast of England.

 Another area of Low Pressure, with a central Pressure of around <985 mbs, is centred over the Finnish/N.W. Russia border, and stretching down towards Ukraine.

These are the main Synoptic features of the 00z E.C.M. run.

Temperatures at the 850hPa level, are between 0c/+2c, throughout the S.E. Region.

Winds are moderate S/S.W., throughout the S.E. Region.

He will begin with the American, G.F.S. Model.

A strong area of High Pressure [around 1050 mbs], is located over Greenland. At the top of the chart a Ridge is evident, emanating from an area of High Pressure, over the Arctic Sea,

A complex area of High Pressure, is stretched out across the North of the North Atlantic.

Its Western most centre, is located just to the N.E. of Newfoundland, with a central Pressure of around <970 mbs.

The Eastern most centre of this feature, lies to the W.S.W. of Southern Ireland, with a central Pressure of around <975 mbs.

An are of Low Pressure [around 985 mbs], is located over N.W. Russia, stretching down into Belarus.

These are the main Synoptic features of the 00z G.F.S. run.

Temperatures at the 850hPa level, are between +1c/+2c, throughout the S.E. Region.

Winds are moderate S/S.W., throughout the S.E. Region.

Temperatures around the S,.E. Region, range from between 8c in the N. of the Region to 10c in the S. of the Region. 

Some Precipitation in the form of Rain, is just exiting the N.E. of the Region. Meanwhile. some Rain Showers can be seen entering the S.W. of the Region.

A complex area of Low Pressure, occupies the North of the North Atlantic. Its main centre, has a central Pressure of around 965 mbs, and is located a few hundred Miles, W.S.W. of Southern Ireland.

A complex area of Low Pressure, is situated over the Finland/N.W. Russia border, with a central Pressure of around 985 mbs and stretches down into Belarus, and into the N. of Ukraine.

These are the main Synoptic features of the 00z U.K.M.O. run.

Sammy freely admits that the pendulum, seems to have swung towards a WET, rather than WHITE Christmas.

He remains very pleased with the performances of both -   -

GRETA the GREENIE and -  - SVARLBARD SVEN.

But despite their heroic efforts, it looks as if these will be thwarted by -  -

  JETHRO JETSTREAM – All American Boy [Aka,The Pest from the West], who at one time looking like he was going to bifurcate to the benefit of Sammy and Friends, has decided to revert to type, and scupper the White Christmas dreams of the Netweather audience.

Taking the 00z Model runs into account, Sammy would now describe his current mood, as -

 - sad and melting.

But of course, he does have his Wedding to Fiancee -  - Samantha, to look forward to.

Sammy doesn't want to rub salt into the wound but the current temperature at their Hotel in Levi, N. Finland is -

 - around -12c [10f].

Sammy is hoping for a Christmas miracle, when he views Tomorrow Morning's 00z runs for Christmas Day, which by that time, will be at T96. Chin up all!!

Morning all,

Sammy Snowman hopes yourselves and your Families, are well.

Before Sammy presents his Synoptic analysis of this Morning's 00z Model runs, he has to report on some very worrying news that has filtered down from Paul, at Netweather Towers.

The normal Pre-Christmas Netweather self inflicting Virus, has mutated into a highly contagious variant.

This variant has been named the N.H.S. [Netweather Hearsay Syndrome]

This has resulted in Paul having to close many of the Weather related Threads, in a bid to limit the spread of the N.H.S. Virus.

Many visitors to the M.A,D.[Moaners and Doubters] Thread, are experiencing symptoms. 

These are as follows:

1] - Hanging on every word, that some Members post. 2] - Uncontrollable knee jerking movements, when they view each frame of a Model run. Which results in - 3] - A sudden raising of Blood Pressure, Palpitations and a shortness of breath. 4] - Insomnia, resulting in the need to get up at 4.30 A.M., to view the early 00z Model runs. 5] - An uncontrollable urge to tell Friends and Relatives, that it will Rain/Snow, on Christmas Day.

It has spread extremely quickly around the Forum, doubling in cases after each Model run, so much so that Paul convened an emergency Meeting, Yesterday [by zoom of course]

In attendance were Dr Nick Sussex, an eminent Psychiatrist with W.H.O. [Weather [Mental] Health Organisation], and some Members of S.A.C.R.A. [Snowlovers And Coldies Raise  Awareness].

The upshot of this Emergency Meeting was to introduce immediate and tough restrictions, throughout the Forum, in a bid to limit the spread of this very debilitating Virus.

These restrictions will be enforced from 4.30 P.M. ,Today, in time for the 12z Model runs.

This will result in a maximum of 10 Members visiting the M.A.D. Thread, at any one time.

After a Member has visited that Thread, they MUST disinfect their Computer Keyboards and Screens for at least 20 seconds, whilst singing, Happy Birthday. Other restrictions will include, Social Media distancing. For those Members still wishing to enter the M.A.D. Thread, they MUST wear full protective clothing, especially gloves.

Those Members experiencing symptoms of N.H.S., MUST self isolate until Spring, or when the last possibility of Snow falling has disappeared.

Speaking from his retreat in Cyprus, Dr Sussex expressed his concerns of dangerously low stocks of the anti-N.H.S drug, Valium.

This shortage has been caused by BRR-Exit.

Sammy would like to thank Malcolm [BLESSED WEATHER] and SNOWRYE above, for their very kind comments, and hopes if they entered the M.A.D. [Moaners And Doubters] Thread, that they wore full P.P.E., especially gloves when typing bon their keyboards, and disinfected their Computers for at least 20 seconds, whilst singing Happy Birtday.

He would also like to assure Snowrye, that for -

he wants to comment on the similarities to the Christmas Pantomime, his Parents -

 - Solomon and Sharon performed, during Christmas Week, in 1978 and early January 1979.

Below, is a rather grainy [no pun intended] screenshot of an image of that Panto, that appeared in the Art Supplement, of the North Kent Mercury, also known as the Kent Weather Book. The Panto was performed at Grain, on the Hoo Peninsular, in North Kent , during early January, 1979.

        

Sammy wants to give thanks to S.E. Meteorologist and Pantomime Technical Advisor, Mr. Ian Currie, for allowing him to reproduce this wonderful memory, of that blizzard hit Panto.

For that Panto performance, both Solomon and Sharon were awarded a B.A,F.T.A. [Best Arctic Freeze Theatre Award].

Sammy will begin this Morning's Synoptic analysis, with the European Model, with the "big Day" now at T96.

There continue to be decent heights over Greenland, especially in the North.

These heights are being fortified by a Ridge, extending down from the North Pole.

A complex area of Low Pressure, continues to straddle the North of the North Atlantic. The deeper Eastern centre, has a central pressure of around 970 mbs, and the slightly more shallow feature in the West, at around 975 mbs. The Western most centre, is located just to the N.E, of Newfoundland. While the Eastern centre, is located a few hundred miles to the S.W. of Eire.

Another complex area of Low Pressure, close to Arkangelsk [Archangel], in N.W. Russia, stretches down to the border with Belarus, and has a central Pressure of around 985 mbs, with another centre on the North Coast of Russia, at <1005 mbs.

 These are the main Synoptic features of the 00z E,C.M. run. 

Temperatures at the 850hPa level, are around 1.5c in the far N.E., of the Region and 2c>, for the remainder of the Region.

Winds are light S/S.W., for the most of the Region.

Although it does look as if it will be a WET, rather than a WHITE Christmas, Sammy feels that the pendulum has swung back slightly in favour of the Coldies Camp, after the 00z Model runs. 

He especially likes the  U.K.M.O. [U Know [it's] Meteorological Overkill], with its disruption away to the S.E.

Although not part of Sammy's remit, he suggests Boxing Day could be interesting in our Region. See below:

 

He continues to be encouraged by -  - GRETA the GREENIE's performance,

and is hoping that allied with - - SVARLBARD SVEN,

can keep -  - GINA the G.I.N. [Greenland/Iceland/Norway] Corridor],

closed, and at the same time push - -   JETHRO JETSTREAM – [Aka,The Pest from the West],

slightly further South.

Although the odds favour a WET, rather than a WHITE Christmas, taking the 00z Model runs into account, Sammy would now describe his current mood, as -

 - hopeful.

Sammy is hoping that the prospects for a White Christmas have improved for our Region, when he views Tomorrow Morning's 00z Model runs for Christmas Day, which by that time, will be down to T72. Keep smiling all!!

Morning all,

Sammy hopes he finds yourselves and your Families, well.

Sammy would like to thank John S.. for his very kind comments but he admits to "being in the doghouse", this Morning.

Rather foolishly and recklessly, he entered the M.A.D. [Moaners and Doubters] Thread, without a semblance of protective clothing.

Every Snowman knows that the mutant, variant N.H.S [Netweather Hearsay Syndrome] Virus, is easily transmissible and can enter a Snowman's immune system, via his coal sockets. Therefore it's imperative for them to wear, at least an coal visor.

But Sammy was intrigued to witness the carnage taking place in that Thread, after Yesterday's 12z Model runs.

Eminent Netweather Psychiatrist, Dr Nick Sussex, reported a quadrupling of cases of the N.H.S. Virus, after those 12z runs.

In his role of advisor to the W.H.O. [Weather [Mental] Health Organisation], Dr Sussex stated that no amount of the anti N.H.S. drug Valium, is likely to alleviate the symptoms of N.H.S. 

On arriving in the M.A.D. Thread, Sammy witnessed no Social Media distancing, taking place,

Along with those aforementioned symptoms, which were as follows:

 1] - Hanging on every word, that some Members post. 2] - Uncontrollable knee jerking movements, when they view each frame of a Model run. The W.H.O. have also acknowledged the likelihood of the following symptoms also being present, in the infected.

6] - An uncontrollable fit of pique, if Snow prospects are perceived to be going "pear-shaped."

7] - Delusions of being a trained Meteorologist.

8] - Deteriorating eyesight, which manifests it itself as,

"Isn't that Low on the 12z further South, than on on the 00z?" When actually, it's further North!!

After exiting the M.A.D. Thread, Sammy had to face the wrath of Fiancee, Samantha.

Needless to say, Samantha gave Sammy -   - the hairdryer treatment,

for possibly causing the cancellation of their Wedding, due to take place on Christmas Day. 

Sammy was planning to get the first available flight back to the nearest Airport to Durham, so he could visit Specsavers, in Barnard Castle, to have his Anthracites tested but he decided to phone Specsavers, first.

The Receptionist advised Sammy not to travel over, as there was a Party, sorry "gathering" of Government advisors queueing around the block, waiting for an Eye Test.

Luckily, Sammy found a Coalthalmologist, close to their Ice Hotel, in Levi and fortunately the Coalthalmologist gave Sammy's pair of Anthracites, a clean bill of health,

The local Health Authority in Levi has assured Sammy that if he can supply 3 negative L.F.Ts. [Lateral Freeze Tests], then his Wedding to Samantha, can go ahead as planned at T87 [3.15 P.M. on Saturday].

In a short while, Sammy will return with his analysis of the 00z E.C.M./G.F.S. and U.K.M.O. Model runs, for 00z Christmas Day, which by this time, will be at T72.

Sammy believes that all 3 Models have now reached a broad consensus of opinion, so his analysis of the 00z runs, will be fairly brief.

Sammy surmises that the Synoptic profile is broadly similar for the N.Atlantic and European sectors, in all 3 Forecast Models so will just use the 00z E.C.M. run, to illustrate this.

It's a rinse 'n repeat of Yesterday Morning's analysis, really.

There continue to be decent heights over Greenland, especially in the North.

These heights are being fortified by a Ridge, extending down from the North Pole.

they may all amount to nothing, which is a great shame, as -

PURPLE VENOM – Polar Vortex [Aka Pernicious Victor/Purple Blob], and -

Sammy has replaced the U.K.M.O. Model, with the U.K.M.O. E.U. Model [Whatever that is?].

Sammy surmises that the Synoptic profile is broadly similar for the N. Atlantic and European sectors, and will post charts from all 3 Models, to illustrate this.

It's basically a copy/paste "job" of Yesterday Morning's analysis, really.

There continue to be decent heights over Greenland, especially ion the G.F.S. Model.

A complex area of Low Pressure, continues to straddle the North of the North Atlantic.

An area of Low Pressure, over N.W. Russia, extends its influence down into Belarus.

2 Metre temperatures are likely to be between +7c and +10c, around the Region.

According to the UKMO/EU Model, parts of of our Region can expect some fairy heavy ppn, in the form of Rain, at this time but rainfall is considered to be only light, according to the G.F.S., American Mosdel.

Sammy finally concludes, that all 3 Models, are singing from the same Christmas Carol sheet.

It's a rinse 'n repeat situation, synoptically.

Sammy would now like to conclude Act 12 of the South East Regional Pantomime, with a summing up of the Synoptic situation, featuring Members of the Panto cast.

He would first like to apologise for the non appearance of Yesterday Morning's, summing up.

As you are aware, foolishly and recklessly, Sammy entered the M.A,D. [Moaners and Doubters] Thread, without any protective clothing, especially gloves for his keyboard.

This was of course, flying in the face of advice from S.A.G.E. [Scientists Alert to [Snow] Geeks Everywhere].

To make matters worse, Sammy only disinfected his keyboard for 10 seconds, whilst singing Happy Birthday.

Seemingly, Sammy's keyboard may well have been infected with a low Viral load, of the N.H.S [Newweather Hearsay Syndrome], As we are aware this is a very contagious disease, and needs to be treated as such, with stringent hygiene measures, in place.

One S.A.G.E. Scientist advises disinfecting your Computers, whilst singing the 2 minute live version, of Happy Birthday but the Pantomime Author [TomSE12] tried this and was whisked off to casualty after 1 minute and 20 seconds, when he attempted to play Air Guitar.

**NB** - it's not advisable, to try this at home!!

So, the answer from the Forecast Models to Sammy's Wednesday "hopecast", of "pulling a rabbit from the hat", has been shot down in flames!!

Despite the continuing heroic work of -   - GRETA the GREENIE,

and - SVARLBARD SVEN,

in shutting off -  - GINA the G.I.N. [Greenland/Iceland/Norway] Corridor],

attempts to deliver a White Christmas for the Region, are going to fail.

Sammy feels there is an outside chance of a little wintriness, over the highest parts, in the North of the Region.

Therefore in summing up, Sammy concludes, that the -  - FAT LADY,

has cleared her throat, and will be singing to her hearts content, come Tomorrow.

Taking into account the 00z Model runs, Sammy would describe his mood as =

 - very sad and unhappy.

In a short while, Sammy will return with news of how Tomorrow's Wedding to - 

 - SAMANTHA, is shaping up.

Sammy would like to thank Katrine above, for her very kind Christmas message, and that you all had a lovely Christmas, albeit sadly, a Snowless one.

He would also like to apologise for the delay in performing the Epilogue to the, NETWEATHER SOUTH EAST REGIONAL PANTOMIME.

Fortunately, he managed to provide the Local Health Authority in Levi, with 3 negative L.F.T's [Lateral Freeze Tests]. and his Marriage to Fiancee, Samantha Snowwoman - , went ahead without any problems.

But as he hinted at in his summing up of Act 12, after the Wedding Party [sorry "gathering"], went their separate ways, Sammy convened an emergency Meeting, as Chief Negotiator with U.S.D.A.W [Union of Snowmen Distributed Around the World], along with the E.U.S. [European Union of Snowmen], and some Members of S.A.C.R.A. [Snow{lovers} And Coldies Raise Awareness], on one side of the negotiating Table.

Facing them were the powers that be at E.C.M. - [Every Coldies [Night] 'Mare], G.F.S.  -[Goofus, aka Go Freeze Satan], and the U.K.M.O. -  [U Know [it's] Meteorological Overkill].

The Snowmen Unions, along with SACRA, are up in arms at American and European Models plans to impose T0 Hour contracts on Synoptic features, that assist cold, wintry Weather, affecting the U.K. and other parts of Europe. But Sammy did warn Members not to vote for BRR-Exit, and feels thee failure of cold, wintry Synoptics occurring during the Festive period, lies squarely at the door of that foolhardy, withdrawal. The restricting of movement of Air Masses, could be clearly seen on the lead up to Christmas Day. Very cold air, to the N.E. over Scandinavia, was prevented from moving South Westwards, by these pernicious Border Controls.

Sammy is especially annoyed at  the Forecast Models for bringing in these T0 Hour Contracts, without extensive negotiations.

The results of these sly and underhand tactics, can already be seen, with the non appearance of -

 - SCANDY MANDY, and 

- the BEAST FROM THE EAST.

Meanwhile,  -  BARBARA THE BARTLETT/EUNICE THE EURO SLUG, and

Sammy would like to wish yourselves and your Families, a Very Happy New Year, and hope that despite the unseasonal Weather, you all enjoyed a Very Merry Christmas.

He would also like to apologise for the late running of the Epilogue to the, Netweather South East Regional Pantomime.

Like a lot of the Audience no doubt, since Boxing Day he has been under the [mild], Weather.

As Sammy stated on Christmas Eve, once the Wedding Party [Sammy obviously means, "gathering"], dispersed, he has been involved in some very protracted and difficult talks, involving himself  as Chief Negotiator for U.S.D.A.W. [Union of Snowmen Distributed Around the World], the E.U.S [European Union of Snowmen], who you may recall were split asunder, by the BRR-Exit deal.

Also present at the talks, were Members of S.A.C.R.A [Snowlovers And Coldies Raise Awareness].

On the opposite side of the negotiating Table, were the powers that be at the American Forecast Model G.F.S. [Go Freeze Satan], and the European Models, E.C.M. [Every Coldies [night] 'Mare], and U.K.M.O. [U Know [it's] Meteorological Overkill].

The reason for such problematic discussions were the Forecast Models wanting to impose, draconian T0 Hour Contracts on Synoptic features and certain Air Masses, likely to deliver Cold and Wintry Weather, to the South East Region.

What has really caused such consternation amongst the Snowmen Unions and Coldies alike, has been the very biased attention, given to the likes of -  -  BARBARA THE BARTLETT/EUNICE THE EURO SLUG,

 - JETHRO JETSTREAM – All American Boy [Aka,The Pest from the West], and

  -  PURPLE VENOM – Polar Vortex [Aka Pernicious Victor/Purple Blob],

Sammy argues that these individuals have been given lucrative Contracts, and copious amounts of Overtime.

Whereas the likes of -  - SCANDY MANDY,

and -  - BERDY [Siberian Anticyclone],

havn't been sighted, so far this Winter.

In a very cynical way, the Forecast Model Management pointed to Today's very feeble -

 - DWARF FROM THE NORTH [All too temporary, Arctic Blast], 

which quickly retreats in the face of -

 - Ritchie, the toppling Ridge.

Just as cynically, they also pointed to the record Snowfall on the other side of the Northern Hemisphere in Japan, in a bid to placate the very angry Snowmen Unions and Coldies alike, but as Sammy argued, that was as useful as a Chocolate Fireguard, for the likes of the U.K. 

Sammy also wanted answers on the promised, "Front Loaded Winter??", which was hinted at, in some L.R.F.'s [Long Range Freezes].

Sammy suggested that proved to be as useful as a -  - Front Loaded Washing Machine,

whose falling Soap Suds, were the only White Stuff, likely to be sighted, if the Forecast Models have their way this Winter.

In a short while, Sammy Snowman will return with Part 2 of his Epilogue, to the Netweather South East Regional Pantomime.

He will also have news regarding his Wedding to his Fiancee -  - SAMANTHA SNOWWOMAN,

that took place in the Finnish Ski Resort of Levi, on Christmas Day.

So, where do we go from here?? Sammy would like to give his view on some 00z Forecast Model Runs at T240, very roughly the midpoint of Winter. 

Sammy will begin with the European Model, E.C.M. [Every Coldies [Night] 'Mare]. Is that a hint to findings, I wonder??

A large area of High Pressure, is centred close to N.W.France, with a central Pressure of around 1030> mbs.

Another area of High Pressure is situated, S.E. of Newfoundland, also with a central Pressure of around 1030> mbs.

Yet another area of High Pressure can be seen, in the far N.E, over Northern Russia, with a central Pressure of around 1035> mbs.

Areas of Low Pressure dominate the North of the Chart, with many centres, stretching from the far N.E. of Canada, across Greenland, and South Eastwards, down to the Ukraine. The deepest of these being around 965 mbs, close to the North Coast of Norway.

Temperatures at the 850hPa level, are around  +4c, in the far  N.E of the Region, and between +4c and +7cc, for the rest of the Region.

Sammy will now take a look at the American Model, G.F.S. [Go Freeze Satan].

Very unusually at this range, it is remarkably similar, to the European Model, and there is no need for analysis.

As happens on the M.A.D [Moaners And Doubters] Thread, when the situation is desperate, Sammy will call on the Canadian Model -

#G.E.M. [Get Everyone Merry]. But guess what?? Horror of horrors, it's pretty much the same again!!

Sammy is really getting desperate now, and decides to go the whole hog, and pleads with the American Long Range  Model -

Snowmen are very polite beings, and are not likely to use swear words but on this occasion, the air is blue but unfortunately not with cold but a whole heap of expletives.

Sammy is on the point of giving up but lays the blame for this pathetic excuse of a Winter, firmly at the door of that BRR-Exit deal.

The sudden clamping down of the free movement of Air Masses and Synoptic features, has in  Sammy's mind, not only scuppered the chance of a White Christmas but could also ruin the chances of any Cold, Wintry Weather reaching the S.E, Region, during the heart of Winter!!

You may recall, that as we entered Christmas Day, a very cold Air Mass was turned away by Border Controls, on the Norwegian Coast.

Below, is the Christmas Day chart at 00z from, C.F.S.R. [Coldies Fantasy Synoptics, Really!!].

As you can see, some very cold air was waiting to travel South Westwards towards the U.K., only to be turned back at the Norwegian Coast, courtesy of BRR-Exit.

Sammy and his Snowmen Union colleagues, have also been trying to hammer out a deal for a S.S.W. [Sudden Snowman Warming] but at one time looking promising, even these talks seem to be floundering now.

After that depressing view of the current situation, Sammy would like to end the Netweather South East Regional Pantomime, on a happier note.

You may recall, Sammy foolishly ignored the advice of S.A.G.E. [Scientists Alert {Snow] Geeks Everywhere], and recklessly entered the M.A.D. [Moaners And Doubters] Thread, without wearing protective clothing, thereby exposing himself to the very contagious N.H.S. [Netwesather Hearsay Syndrome], mutated Virus, which had reached Pandemic proportions, in that part of the Forum.

When Sammy's Fiancee -  - SAMMY SNOWWOMAN found out about her Fiance;s stupidity,

she gave Sammy -  - the hairdryer treatment, for jeopardising their Wedding.

Instead of taking a fruitless and pointless journey, back to Specsavers in Barnard Castle in Durham, to have his Anthracites tested, as they were fully booked up with Government advisors getting their eyesight checked, Sammy managed to find a Coalthalmologist,, in Levi, close to where Sammy and Samantha, were to be married on Christmas Day. 

Fortunately, the Coalthalmologist gave Sammy's Anthracites, a clean bill of health.

After Sammy provided 3 L.F.T.'s [Lateral Freeze Testa], the Wedding was allowed to take place.

Present at the Wedding were Sammy's Parents -  - SOLOMON and SHARON,

Sammy's very attractive, younger Sister -  - SALLY,

who acted as Chief Bridesmaid. 

As was stated earlier, Samantha's Parents were unable to travel over, due to fears about the N.H.S. Pandemic but a small Family service will be held back in England, in late January.

Sammy's relatives took responsibility for the Catering duties, the food of course was supplied by Iceland, and naturally could be eaten frozen, as thawed out it, would give a Snowman, food poisoning.

Sammy and Samantha returned to their refurbished Ice House - ,

at Snowdown, just North of Dover, a couple of Days ago and had to quickly dive into their marital bed, to escape the inclement Weather, not only for Snowmen but no doubt for the majority of the Netweather South East Regional Members.

They have been enjoying their frozen nuptials, ever since.

I'm sure it won't be long before we start to hear the pitter,patter of - 

 - tiny Snowmen.

Later Today, Sammy Snowman will return to roll the credits, on the Netweather South East Regional Pantomime.

Thank you for your lovely Countdown to Christmas pantomime.  The only way we could get snow is for Sammy and his wife Samantha and company to get snow making superpowers and cover the British Isles and Ireland with lots of snow.
