New Years Day 1962 and 1963

A Happy New Year to you all!

These were the scenes in S London / Surrey on New Years Day sixty years ago in 1962 and a year later on NYD 1963. Can I assume that these scenes are not being repeated in the area today?

I think that the cold weather at the start of January 1962 did not last beyond the first few days of the month before conditions were back to average or even slightly above - the cold did eventually return in the second half of Feb 1962 which lasted through a very cold March.  The following year was very different though - persistently cold through to early March, and only 1979 has come close to this since.
