Very wimdy here with 50mph gusts and were not even in the squall yet.

Not having an amber warning for NW England and N Wales from the Met office must mean the storm is modelled to lose intensity faster than the general models currently show

Tomorrow looks like an absolute write-off for going out, Met has us being at 40-50mph gusts all day, sometimes even reaching closer to 60mph.

I wouldn't say it's a write off for our region?

Windy yes, but predominantly dry too, maybe even sunny later in the day.  Whilst windy, it's not going to be that bad that folk can't go out and about in it.

That was short and sharp. Temperature down 2.1C in 5 minutes, dew point down 2.6C in 10 minutes. 1.2 mm of rain dropped in 5 minutes too.

Wind and rain back to normal now.

As in "the convergence" of the two cold fronts bud?

I was assuming the convergence was that sharp bend in the isobars tbh, but those two cold fronts are close together for sure.

Well mine start school again then unless there a teacher's training day, I'll find out by parent mail at some point today, as I've no idea when the teacher training days are, and don't seem to be on the calendar.

Schools still on,I think that them cutting down the tree a few months ago was their best idea for keeping it open otherwise, we might have had School off for a while or at least part of a building at school shut.

Last night was windy, with gusts of just under 50 mph. My local Met Office forecast indicates it will only be around 5 mph windier tonight, but I don't believe it. Looking at the GFS and ECM, it appears like I'll see gusts around 65mph. But the direction for me tonight isn't good the wind has a funnel affect coming down the hills from the North West which can bring stronger gusts than forecast. I haven't seen the GFS predict such high wind speeds for me since moving here, so I'm a little worried, even though I'm not in the warning zone.

Wow that's a lot of rain for a cold front. Now it's built. And I think you can see the secondary one too, although that's behind the kink, so unlikely to squall. We'll see.

Wonder whether orographics will help once that weaker bit in the middle clears the Irish Sea.

hmmm .. a somewhat muted Squall line for me lasting 5-10 mins of mod to heavy rain,  most notable feature was the on / off gusty nature of the wind from 30 - 50 mph or thereabouts coming through in waves , more significant echoes further south on the front

XCWeather and Met Office forecasts both going for higher gusts here than we saw on Friday, wonder if we may see an Amber warning?
