Welcome to the new home of the Southwest and Central Southern England regional area.

In here, there'll be the normal ongoing thread about the weather and everyone's daily lives in the region, but there is now the option for multiple threads (for instance for weather events, stats, model chat or whatever else), there's a photo gallery available, and also a member map.

To post into the group, you will need to join, but that's a one-click process and everyone is welcome. Please let us know how you find it, and if you have any ideas for improving the group.

Bit puzzled as to why this was necessary... there was nothing wrong with how it was.

Oh, here we are!!!!!

Very pleasant, partly cloudy morning following an equally pleasant day yesterday.

Oh how weird, could not post to the old thread, seems to have moved here, without old thread mentioning a new one.
No idea why I had to click the join button, well it seemed to work. Very odd, as I'm already logged in.

Anyway,
A couple of overcast days and same this morning.
10-12c mostly Thur and Fri, but was down to 3c at 3am this morning.

No recorded rain since Wednesday, but felt a tiny free drizzly bits this morning.
6.5°C, Northerly 8mph winds, 1023.3 hPa

Despite the overcast weather, but a tad warmer, my broad beans, rhubarb and strawberry runners are loving it and have put on a real spurt the last week
The daffs, hyacinths and tulips are just starting to show too. The crocus have been up a few weeks and flowering very well, always the early guys.
Just love this time of year in the garden...

I'm a bit concerned that we have gradually lost the simplicity of a primarily text based internet forum. This one is now unlike any that I've ever seen (over decades) and I have to scroll down menus or click to another page more frequently than ever before, just to see what's there. The menu design looks pretty but graphics accompanying the menu titles added nothing apart from that IMO, and makes it harder/slower to find stuff you only occasionally visit. The Groups feature already added a bit more complexity and now, it's all too much for my old eyes.

Sometimes, simple and familiar is better. Others may completely disagree and I don't want to start an argument about it, so I'll just leave it there.

No Met Office warning of ice for Gloucestershire. I am absolutely astonished. Road conditions are about to become very dicey, especially just off the beaten track - where homes are.

I am surprised there hasn't been one for here either. We had a yellow warning for snow and ice yesterday, so did they think everything would dry up before it got dark? Everything is iced up now, and still no ice warning.

I can't believe it. Where I live is a skating rink. The roads and pavements are covered in ice. Definitely an ice day here

Looking for weather for gardeners, (mainly in the form of forthcoming frosts at this time of the year) for NE Hampshire or thereabouts. Please can someone confirm that I'm in the right place? TIA
