Just back from Chichester where I experienced a thunderstorm from about 11am for about an hour, useful rain and not torrential.

Really regularly incorrect forecasts now

I know!

It seems to keep changing from one day to the next these day's and quite often a number of different forecasts will all be saying a different thing from each other on the same day.

Never no what to even expect anymore or whats going to happen from one day to the next as it keeps changing so much.

Just enough rain to dampen the ground here and it has stopped. It looks like that's it for today here.

I'm not too sure that forecasts have been 'incorrect' as such, or just that when a 10% chance of a storm is suggested, I've been one of the other 90%?🤔

Models have been performing quite poor lately regarding any convective activity. Though at the moment today seems to be going to plan. Ed is right though, ConvectiveWeather for example is probability of lightning within a 25 mile radius. That's actually quite a large area and too often people will see they're under a SLGT for example and expect to see a storm when in reality that's only approx 30-45% chance of lightning with 25 miles.

I imagine the warnings are more for the torrential downpours from any showers rather than lightning, given the ground is hard and could mean potential surface flooding in some areas.

Light rain falling here now although I’m supposedly under red on the radar. Ground is actually wet for the first time since 2nd July!

I tend not to believe the forecasts now over the last couple of days they have been way off.

It's a shame that we never get storms like we did in the 90's.

I don't normally like to criticise the Met Office but i feel I have to. If they are warning about flooding from rain then it should be a rain warning and not a thunderstorm warning. A thunderstorm contains lightning. There was no lightning anywhere on Wednesday and so far no lightning within the warning area today. The wording used in yesterday's video forecast was "intense thunderstorms". There is no chance of intense thunderstorms today.

Unless something in the next couple of hours I can't see anything happening, based of the GFS most Cape and LI is in the area surrounding Wiltshire which dies off by 6pm.

But yet the warning was for the whole of Southern Central with a warning affective until 10pm.

I think they relying on the atmosphere to play ball,I've seen 3 forecasts saying about Thunderstorms.I think it's beginning to be harder to forecast Thunderstorms. The possibility is there but mother nature having none of it had a few showers here in Taunton but very light drizzle and one or 2 shower's that dampen the ground but nothing noteworthy.

absolutely shambolic forecasts again today....intense downpours and thunderstorms forecasted for my area...not a risk...it says 'cooler than recently with intense downpours and thunderstorms moving up from the south before clearing away to the east in the afternoon'.....we had some light drizzle for 20 mins and thats it.

Sounds right to me too… potent showers all around me, and a few flashes of lightning….

I guess there was a ‘risk’ any of these could have been more electrified.

Day ain’t done yet! Sure maybe not storms, and they may not reach you, but assuming I got the postcode right they’re near you… good luck!

I don't see anything within the warning text to suggest that level of criticism is warranted?
