Still no signs of a Combine doing its business where I am. Anyone got any harvesting going on?

Rapeseed around my way.

It's been quite a nice summer so far I think. A few disappointingly cloudy days here and there, but plenty of sunny ones also.

This summer is shaping up to be reminiscent of 2013, but with the dryness of 2018.

Nicest summer in terms of long sunny warm

or hot days since 2018.

Saw a field finished and bailed around Knebworth on Sunday.

That's what I was expecting to see, but nothing yet. I had a chew on some wheat kernels this morning - still soft. Maybe another week/10days to go for them?

I guess this thread sets a precedent for being able to start the Spring thread on 12th January?

Wow, it's taken its time, but the first "isn't this thread too early" award this year goes to B87!

Congratulations on your large tub of salt 🍚

Well despite the Spanish Plume of hell of the past few days, I can confirm that I’ve spotted the few leaves on the turn! 🍃🍂🍁😁👍🏻

The signs of autumn are starting to slowly appear if you know where to look. 🍃🍂🍁🍄😊👍🏻

I actually hope we have relentless rain. Literally like we have never seen before, or the early 2000s.

I'll take that as a yes then.

Spring 2023 thread, coming 12th January!

The coming season threads generally start half way though the current season. It's only the Spring thread, for some strange reason, that doesn't. The Autumn thread has always started around the middle of July.

Autumn is the best season of the year here..unfortunately its sooo short and ultimately is the harbinger of doom as the very long cold winter is knocking on the door

Winter barley being harvested now round here and Rape, still a lot of greenery in the tram lines with later sown crops, wheat not fit yet but getting close!

Out on the bike at 5am and noticed the Rape got chopped yesterday. A good start

Too early to be 'on the turn' - looks like heat stress

Most trees here don't turn until well into October with peak colours in early November - any browning now is definitely due to drought.

Autumn feels a long way away at the moment, but I think this year I'll be ready for it. After a good summer (even if August is drab) I'll be looking forward to it.

In all honesty I've already had my summer fix and August will be bonus now!

Probably my favourite thread; and like many others one hopes it is a 'seasonal autumn'. A gradual cool down in September, with mists & fog from late Sept/early Oct, and then a few storms in October, followed by more cooling into November, with maybe some frost., and a hint of winter.

As a paperboy back in 1986, I recall a couple of bright sunny, but frosty mornings in late September......which was a shock, especially for my hands/ fingers trying to deliver papers.

However, we still have a month and a half of summer to enjoy......

Increasingly Autumn proper seems to not bed in until mid October and once the light is snatched end October the early winter gloom feel takes over. I always used to look forward to late September and the first frosts.. and that definate feel of autumn.. but now September just feels more like late summer.

As someone who is a lover of seasonal and variable weather, just like with others on here I am hoping for a more seasonal September this year. From mid September onwards, my interest in summery conditions has waned. Just like with March, September is supposed to be a topsy turvy month in terms of both temps and weather, but in recent years has been predominently summer-like. I am hoping that this year will break the trend for summer-like Septembers.

My ideal September would be a gradual drop in temps as the month goes on, with a few warm days scattered around here and there. Some cool and clear foggy nights during late September would be lovely too.

guarantee one year would be enough..you wouldn't want two..any fixation or love of cold and snow would be over 😎
