Incredibly 24c here but it’s very hazy! However it’s burning off - and watch the temperature rocket.

Cloudy here, showers bubbling up to the south. Same thing happened yesterday evening. Somewhat unexpected!

Locally upto 34.6c, very hot however there is increasing mid level convection so I expect we may well see that upward motion stop. Just 1c more for a record at that local station. Very rapid upswing this morning.

image.thumb.jpg.b3a3a8ab547f69459fed0a5d723c2143.jpgOften runs a little hot compared to to official stations but seems generally in keeping with others?

If cloud doesn't reach the London area and East Anglia I can see 40. The temperature rises are insane but again depends on clouds.

It was around that level (or just above) at this time on 1st July 2015 when it clouded over. Think we will be fine today/

Yes, and we should have quite a late maximum today as the uppers will be rising as the day goes on.

Just hit 31⁰c here. Temperatures climbing rapidly. Don't think I'll struggle to beat 34.5⁰c today.

And there's the onshore breeze. 😬 The wind has just switched to the E/NE which has probably scuppered any chance of anything extreme here now.

Annoying how this always happens. I guess the long-term July record is only 31.7C here for a reason!

Fingers crossed it doesnt get too strong and we may still threaten it.

The record to beat in Buxton is 31.9'c which was set almost 3 years ago in July 2019, we're currently at 29.2'c with the thermometer still rising a steady 1.4'c p/h.
