Big boom of thunder of this bad boy just to my north. Bizarrely, these storms are going either side of the Severn estuary… is it summer?! 😅

We have had thunder and hail showers on and off all day here. Very gusty too

this thunder and lightning hasnt stopped all day. 

 

currently thunder and lightning in cardiff, these will die this eve

Just seen some lightning and distant thunder about 10-15miles to my north going past, some more heavy showers moving into South Wales.

It surely has been a lively day in Wales! Lots of heavy showers, very strong winds, A gust of 76mph recorded this morning at Mumbles head. Tommorow looks no different. Further heavy rain and showers to come.

Not long had some more torrential hail and thunder and lightning overhead, some very big booms, loved it!

It's been start and stop all day lol. Your only up the road bud 🙂 But what a great day of action.  Nice to see and hear. We've not seen too much in the way of storms this year in the this area so making up for it I guess. Although it's beginning to show signs of colder weather and more settled in the long run I see in the mod thread 🙂

been thundering in cardiff this eve though, will need to pop down CBYC tomorrow eve before sea cadets to check the sea cadet motor launch and run her up/pump out. joys of being boats officer.

Hope I didn't miss anything yesterday as it looks like there was actually thundery showers in Wales all day.

I didn't think there was going to be anything and because I rely on my parents to tell me if they hear anything as they are alway's outside I fear they may have missed some nearby distant storms as they will only hear stuff thats nearby because they are in a shed.

I only noticed some lightning this evening around the area for a few hours with one distant but powerful sounding rumble and then another half an hour or so later that was closer but I think less powerful as the thunder was softer sounding.

Another thing that I thought was unusual today though was the strange nature of the wind as you would have hours of there being just Light or Gentle breezes but then when a shower came through you could have a few minutes of Strong or even Near gale to Gale force gusts.

Certain I can hear the odd distant rumble here at the moment listening out the kitchen window.

Had a bit more closer thunder here around when that very brief but intense squall came through.

One of the roads just below us in the village has a small area of flooding at the moment. 

Highest rainfall rate my weather station picked up was around 9mm/hr but I don't think its very accurate if the rain is too short lived.

had a very heavy hail and thunderstorm track across the Gower, some large pea size hail, leaving a white layer across the roads and pavements

Another morning with an anvil-filled skyline out in the channel! This has been a theme many times of late, with the warm channel evidently feeding them

Thunder here for two days in a row, Weds and yesterday.  Unlikely to get a third day today, but certainly some photogenic convective cloudscapes around.
