Massive crack of lighting and booming clap of thunder just occurred here in C. London. Checked the radar and there are some slow moving but otherwise inconspicuous showers around just to my east. I wasn’t aware there was thundery potential today!

Can confirm another strike and long crack of thunder. It appears there’s a thunderstorm in London tonight! Will be keeping an eye on the radar.

Apologies for the double post.

That's a fake Robbie.

You can download that image of London on it's own and then add stuff to it.

Yeah. You can see the boats in the same places on both images. The car light-trails are in the same place. Even the tide is the same lol

There was a similar fake of a supercell somewhere in the US. It was probably the same cloud that's in the image of London?!

That sounds about right.

Looking at the current radar there are some lively showers out in the channel...

I was out this morning taking photographs and with some lovely towers out to sea

Well.. I never thought I'd still be checking the radar for storms this late in the year.. but I guess that sums up 2022

It's been absolutely brilliant in this thread throughout these past few months

So many amazing contributions from us seasoned storm fans, and new members alike

Hopefully this is the year, which we will look back on in years to come, as the beginning of an uptick in storm activity... We will see!

It's been a fruitful year when it come to getting some decent captures, and I've finally managed to spend some time and edit all my footage into one Video

Happy 2022 to everyone, and hopefully we'll have a very happy 2023 🌩️⛈️⚡ 😁

We've been waiting for it for a while. I think it's been pretty well established that we've been having a period of lesser activity from around 2016 - present, and some knowledgeable posters have talked about we get something of a pattern with a few years of less activity, followed by an uptick for a few years. 2022 has been a funny one. May and September were stacked and we had a plume event in what, late October(?)...but nowt in the actual summer months!

Early AM today the temperature was -6C and I saw four flashes of lightning in the ESE. This was out to sea between Essex and Holland, about 70 miles from here.
