Question

What is the cause of moderate to significant precipitation from overcast, stratocumulus clouds when the isobars on a synoptic chart show the area to be within the centre, covering a widespread area, of a high pressure system. I always, without giving it too much thought, assumed weather like that would be associated with some kind of Front, but I never expected weather as I describe to be in the middle of a High. Can anyone make sense of my question and perhaps shed some knowledge on it? Thanks.
