Sorry should of stated these are all amateur stations.

Heres a good map showing all stations that fell below freezing across the UK.

That is a lot of stations. Many a year had to wait well into October before such widespread air frost has occured.

-0.6C was the low here so the first air frost of the Autumn. Like Damian says we often have to wait a while longer to have one so this is an early start.

Last year, I had to wait until 5th November for an air frost. Much earlier this year in comparison.

I think 2015 was the longest I had to wait for one.

Dec 2015 we didn't record one air frost.

Yes a few more spots may record their first ground frost early hours tomorrow or Wednesday. No signs of first nationwide air frost on the horizon, but many a year it takes until November.

The tipping point here tends to be third week of Oct, when clear skies can easily bring one even if uppers are not especially cold, just too early now, you need relatively cold uppers.

Thanks for these. First air frost for Southern England, not bad coming in September rather than October. Upcoming evenings set milder thanks to milder airmass, more cloud about.

Tonight is milder but tomorrow night looks to be on the cold side again before a milder night Friday.

Topcliffe 0.7C this morning so should be a few seeing frost on cars, etc. My garden has a southern aspect, though, and not here quite yet with 4.9C.

Managed 2.3°C on Tuesday here. Lowest temperature I’ve recorded in September since I moved her in 2016.

Some spots down in Kent as low as -1.5°C this morning it would seem. Impressive for so far south after what’s been such a hot summer.

Forecast 3c here tonight, so some more inland locations should surely go below 0c.

Excellent, many thanks. Widespread air frost then, and ground frost for many.

The temperatures were plummeting in Scotland last night before the cloud and rain arrived.  Aboyne's new low for the season was -3.8C somewhere around midnight but had warmed to 7.0C at 6am.  It looks like it would have been about -7C if it had not clouded over.

Suspect that is the current low minima for the new season. I'll be posting my minima temp thread before end of October.

Oh dear this thread isn't seeing much action so far this Autumn. Had hoped we may have seen our first air frost of the season, usually have by now. Alas its looking a late one this year.. probably not until second week of Nov at the earliest looking at the longer range models. I've alot of geraniums and treasure flowers still in full bloom, shoukd have died by now..
