6.8C, 107mm.

Generally damp and cyclonic but the mean low shifts east as the month progresses.

This honestly gets more difficult every month but to hell, lets go with a CET of 7.4C (or 4.7C!!).  Mild or very mild first half with a tentatively cold second half, but who would seriously want to call this?!

Meanwhile, EWP of 92mm please.

Posting this one minute before deadline to amend my own EWP forecast on time, J10 this does not change the order of my CET forecast which I am not amending (8.9) from its original 19th in the order. EWP changed from 173 to 113 mm.

Table of forecasts for November 2022

Numbers in brackets after Forecaster name refer to order of entry. You can still enter late up to end of Thursday 3rd of November with increasing late penalties applied. Those late entries will be edited into this table.

Sorry you're going for such a high CET, Roger.  Any thoughts on winter as a whole?  Apologies if I've missed them!

My winter thoughts are basically mixed intervals of all kinds, possibly not too far above normal for the average but you figure it's bound to be slightly above (1991-2020 normals). I think there could be some rather strong storms in the mix, and perhaps one wintry spell which is most likely to come in December.

By the way I agree with some who are saying mild then colder for November but I think the average will be over 10 in the middle third and it may be like 1978 which started to leak warmth late in the month after running very mild. Would not be surprised really by any outcome between 8 and 10.

November 1st marks the start of cold half of the year. However, first half of Nov is often very mild, milder than many a second half to April, largely due to mild minima.

I have reduced all 1981-2010 values by 0.1 as the end of month value of 7.1 in legacy CET is now 7.0 in v2.0.

This approximation may contain some slight errors though.

Note that legacy record lows have been substantially altered in a few cases, the -4.6 for 24 Nov 1904 went to -3.5 and is not even a daily record now, 1816 took that with -3.6. Also 23rd 1858 was -4.2 in legacy, but 28th 2010 at -4.0 (unchanged) is now the monthly record.

10 ___ 7.9 __ 8.7 _______ 20 ___ 6.1 __ 8.0 _______ 30 ___ 5.8 __ 7.4

(these are from legacy CET, as the 1991-2020 monthly average has dropped to 7.3 in v2.0, it could be assumed that many of the above data points have dropped by 0.1 but some may be same and some down 0.2. I will be working on this issue eventually, many other data files to fix up with v2.0 now in play.

Does warmer SSTs = higher minimum temperatures, and stronger sun = higher maximum temperatures?

CET files not fully updated but values now appear in the full history section if not 2022 ... and the average so far is 10.7 C to third.

EWP starts out wet, 22.7 mm to 2nd, adding perhaps 5-6 more on 3rd (rain mostly in south). Close to 30 mm then so far.
