I'm impressed by this flat lining of the mean average, reminds me of back in 2010. Absolutely bullish about cold staying with us until about the 17th at the least. Be interesting to see the CET once we get to that point as we're going to struggle to get much above zero every day until then, if at all on some days. Wowza.

Funny to think that under 5 months ago you were the hottest place on the hottest day ever in NW England. Seems a long way away now.

Yes, though I do think we squeeze the title given the proximity to the Midlands basically, we are just North West considering how big the region is, but records are records.

That said weather wise this year has been interesting. We had the relentless rains of November and now it properly feels like Winter right on cue.

Still nice to know we can muster up these cold spells despite a record summer.

Mod thread winds me up, people moaning that they see no precipitation on the way. Must have been frozen solid for 3 weeks before I saw a flake in 2010 and then it bucketed it down and also stayed. No idea why anyone would want a battleground scenario where the snow has left the next day and I’m certainly yet to see one that actually delivers for the northwest!

Yeah does my head in too, also hearing about ‘the snow starved south’ also boils my jaffa cakes 😂

Clear skies and slack winds. Only thing missing is snow cover to develop a 2010 style frost. I wonder if we'll see another -10c or lower during this spell.

Still hovering around freezing  here thanks to the wind direction here. Will stay like that until after midnight. Just a few miles further inland it will be a different story.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
