Might get to -6/-7c overnight… cold 🥶… quite impressive so early on in winter without snow cover…

Wonder if the region will score a minus 10 in some frost hollow

An overnight low of minus 4.8c in the frozen northern lake district. Temp already below freezing. The summit of Blencathra retains it's snow cover.

I’d be surprised without snow cover. But you never know I suppose.

8.15pm, -3.1c here, brought the wild birds water in, it's a frozen solid block, they will be glad of any feed you can put out as the ground gets harder.  Moon and Mars in all their glory, cloud may hinder viewing the occultation in the early hours and keep temps from falling.  Keeping a big eye on the echoes in the Irish sea west of Southport/Liverpool at the moment.

Could contain: Night, Outdoors, Nature, Flare, Light, Moon, Astronomy, Sun, Sky

Could contain: Cooking Pan, Cookware

We have a snow symbol here at 8pm tomorrow on the Metoffice automated. Let’s see if we can upgrade on that.

2.2C here, slowly dropping, even with cloud cover. Showers forming in the Irish sea but mostly  dying out before they get much inland. Dewpoint is 0.2C so whatever showers fell as would be sleet or wet snow.

Just back from a work trip to NW Wales.  Interesting watching the car thermometer along the A55 and then through NW England.  7c right on the coast, 3c a mile or so inland.  Then Chester onwards 1 to -2, which was the final reading arriving home.

Getting enough of a Westerly drift to get snow showers inland seems a struggle over the next few days sadly.  But the little low @Kasim Awan mentions above and @Weather-history shows on the one of the model runs looks the most promising.  Could easily be further West though and slip through Wales.

Fingers crossed either that, or the weak trough tomorrow evening can bring some interest.  Dry and cold doesn’t really float my boat, miles better than grey and wet though!

AROME has a dusting for some of us early on Friday of a couple of cm. Basically the further south and east you are.

Just caught up on the mad model discussion.  I think for us in NW we need the Azores low early next week to slide well south into France, and hope that leaves room for a disturbance to drop down from the North.

Blizzards up-to Birmingham and us stuck under the cloud shield with a frigid easterly and no precipitation would be frustrating!
