The few light snow símbolos have disappeared from the MO app for tonight.. also the MCR Airport TAF removed the snow word.. oh well 😞

Perhaps the first true 'ice-day' of this cold-snap for a few parts today, the forecast doesn't show anything above 0'c for Buxton so long as the clouds hold off from bringing any slightly higher DPs off the North Sea.

May see some sprinkles of snow this afternoon, the feature to the north looks further west, and should move through the region, but will depend how much precipitation is on it, will be a radar watch day and looking outside the window type of day, but I'll be busy this afternoon and evening, so won't be able to report.

We've finally got an air frost here, and there is a light frost too. The sky must have cleared overnight and the breeze died.

Dropped to -1C, it looks like a cold day today, still at 0.2C

Currently -6.7c and still falling

The trend was falling but in fact did not fall any any further. Currently -5.4c and cloudless sunny skies. Blencathra summit snow covered. Derwentwater looks to have fog hanging over it.

-3.7C. That’s the last recorded temp before my sensor froze and died.

Is anyone local selling a weather station? I’ve been to many shops trying to get a new one, but no one seems to know what one is. Amazon are my last resort today, but thought I’d try here first? Not got a massive budget, but if anyone’s selling a reliable one I’ll come pick it up asap!

Still on for a few snow showers early hours local dustings

Tomorrow night has more interest especially near the coast

GFS backing this up chart for Midday Saturday showing snow cover for most of the region, however I imagine the totals indicated in some places are way over the top, meantime like most places in the region a hard overnight frost leading into a beautiful but bitterly cold day.

Quite contrary as their PPN charts showed rain for several hours last time I checked it!

Met Office going for 4C and rain turning to snow on Saturday. Temps in the forecast keep going up every time I check it. So too do the cloud amounts.

Excellent 06GFS the LP as predicted heads off into France leaving us in the cold air, less risk equals higher reward further down the line.

Still -2.2C here, not likely to be hugely far off an ice day today. Certainly not likely to get significantly above freezing, 1 to 2C at best I should think.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
